I'm cross posting that to another forum where a few Porsche RS3 owners are ganging up and seem to think they'll kick a new liter bikes butt at a drag race
right now it's a $10K bounty . Don't they have internet?
Yeah, my post was sincere. I realize it could have read as sarcasm - a 959 and a Testarossa were big lust-mobiles for me back in the day, I'd still love to have/see/play with either one!
Appears to be a WWII oxygen tank for bomber crews. Each B17 had them located all over, as they had a low max PSI rating. Commonly seen at FBO's about the country being used a portable tanks to air up tires.
Back in the 70's my dad, brother and I all competed in observed trials. The rules back then were that you could not stop your forward momentum or it was 5 points. When they changed those rules is when folks started doing all the really trick stuff. Love it!
Years ago I was riding the Uly down Panamint Springs Rd out of Death Valley when one of those F/A18's from NAS Lemoore (or China Lake) came up from behind about 500' off the deck. The sound from the engines we're about a 1/2 second behind him. Scared the crap out of me!
In the last month I found the actual video of the pilot talking in that video. He was in front of a crowd and the reactions were great to see. What a great story. When I was much younger I used to build models of planes, mostly military, and I always had great reverence for the Black Bird. To think it was designed with a slide rule!
Very entertaining, Tom, thanks! It wasn't in the cards for me to become a pilot, but as a pre-teen I got to go up in a single prop plane (Cessna?) with my sis and her boyfriend... THAT was a great day!
Still got a glider plane ride, plus maybe hang-gliding or skydiving, on the bucket list... I'll probably be able to afford some ziplines someday though...
