Good luck Georgia.

I assume it's not on a major fault line or where tsunamis can flood it? Or nearby rivers?

So all you have to worry about is Greenie Jihadists.

There's a plant just outside of Jax, FL - not a big deal for the area/region. The "big deal" here is, it's finally approved - first one in decades to be built.

I am curious as to taste. The uncured pepperoni I've tried in pizzas is foul. If there's a good version I haven't tried it.

Niagara Falls is lovely when it's frozen over.

The Climate Con is now regurgitating 1970's ice age warnings, blaming it on Global Warming. We need an outdoor Climate Conference in Eire PA or Syracuse NY. Better yet. Nebraska.

This is the weather I grew up in. Bragging rights weather. I built an igloo and slept in it. ( boy scouts ) The snow fort I built in our side yard drift had multiple rooms connected with tunnels & turrets with firing steps & stairs from the tunnels. ( for snow ball fights )

It's what you get when you let a 8 year old read the Korean War Naval Land Warfare manual. Wasn't allowed to dig fox holes in the yard. ( after the first one, complete with grenade sump and camouflage ) But snow forts based on the Maginot Line? Sure, knock yourself out.

I'm sorry, but....WTF??

James Hansen, former NASA GISS Director, published a paper which suggests global warming will trigger a short ice age in the near future

And they could be right about the Ice Age while their assumptions are wrong.

This is late '70's fear mongering. But unlike the panic of that cold spell, we have decades of lies to create a panic of heat..... because of a late 1990's hot spell.

Ice age? Man caused Global Warming.
Volcano? Man caused Global Warming.
Mars is cooling? Man caused Global Warming.
Your kid wants to change gender? Man caused Global Warming.

Oh.... and don't forget the study that sex is better in a Communist Dictatorship.

Sometimes the headline writers don't seem to read the article.

Sometimes the headline writer figures you don't read the article.

What this means is when your neighbor has his garden party rained out he can sue you for your wood stove changing the weather. More likely the trucking company or gas station. ( I'm assuming you don't have millions to sue for ) Just play Weird Al's "Sue" & make that expected behavior.

Combine this with the winter weather..... and you have the setup for the novel "The Last Centurion" by Ringo.

Good read, btw. A bit of a political rant as the obviously Hillary name changed President goes full campus professor commie, but most of this group would enjoy. ( Julie would be TRIGGERED! !)

On the lighter side.

For those who didn't pay attention. 2 forces drive technology online. Gaming and porn. PayPal was a way to anonymous pay for porn. High resolution video cards, gaming. Streaming video, porn. VR, both.

What? You thought all this was for conference calls?

And porn.

True, gaming drove raw power, & you don't need six hundred eighty seven texture processors running in parallel with a terabyte of quad speed memory in a fully programmable video card to run porn. My "old" 950 card has more processing power than NASA had to go to the moon. Other than massive parallel super computers, gaming made that profitable.

But fast enough for streaming video and PayPal and anonymous browsing is all porn. The fact that most categorize computers in all their formats as "gaming" & "good enough for Dad" tells you the minimum for glitch free high rez porn. : )

Porn even debuted point of view film making that Hollywood hasn't caught up to yet.... but porn was in movie format days after the motion picture camera was first hand cranked. Not years.

Sure, twits and My Face and other social mobocracy insanity may rule the profits today, & we use computers to control our nuclear weapons. ..... Hail, Colossus!

Without the secure payment systems and basic sales websites developed for porn, Amazon wouldn't exist..... although I'm sure they'd develop that stuff without porn& gaming, we'd be arguing this on a BBS with PC Jr.s.

In the same article where they are telling us about the deaths from flu, you will find a link stating "It's not too late to get a flu shot".

No thank you. Inject me with the flu and whatever mind control serums you might add to it, to "prevent" the flu?

No, thank you.

And porn.

If they had mind control drugs they'd use them. Put them in the fluoridation or beer. ; )

The current flu shot is iirc 32% effective on the flu now running wild. Not great but not useless. If I was 20 I'd skip it, but old folk should get it.

Remember, war, and preparation for war, is a major funder & driver of technology. Supercharger tech, supersonic airplanes, 4 valve cylinder heads, sodium filled exhaust valves, nerve gas....... not all good, not all bad.

Just because I acknowledge that doesn't mean I'm for war, or porn.

Even gaming can be abused. Like opiates, it can lead to poor job performance and strife. I don't want a world without pain killers. Or Halo.

Self control is responsibility is the rejected standards by the Leftist.

The presupposition that the establishment news media is anything other than leftist crony-corporate propaganda will have you in a perpetual state of wonder at the lies, calumny, and nonsense they report.

Better is to simply laugh at their transparent deceptions and point to the truth.

Relatively new organization/site www.justfacts.org provides exceptionally well researched and referenced information to shine the light of truth on most politically contentious issues. Great organization.

Porn.

The #1 reason we have Youtube, Netflix, Facebook, Web Conferencing, Face time and text messaging as well as multiple variations on video and image compression. Partly responsible for all of the storage and media location technology too.

Back in the day, SUN was the "dot" in .com and SGI was the "colon" in http:. SGI worked hard to sell the O2 workstation into private companies, who then sold them to porn stars for video chat rooms. Most of them "forgot" to remove the hard drive from the system if they sent them back for repair. Several people got in trouble for posting those images and videos on the companies internal sites.

I was in a meeting where the sales guys tried to dance around the identity of the end users because some folks at SGI were absolutely mortified that our best server technology was going to companies like PornHub and several of the streaming technologies were being funded by the same sorts of folks. One conference room was nicknamed "The Pink Room" because it was close to the exit and was where several of these types of meetings took place.

I know of two guys that made millions buying SGI equipment then reselling it to the porn industry so SGI could claim not to know the end user.

Nice story. But is it really true? Very depressing if so. If YouTube was preceded by pornograohic streaming sites responsible for the development of video streaming technology, that would seem fairly easy to demonstrate, no? Just compare/contrast their histories.

That Sun and SGI may have had some surreptitious sales to pornography streaming businesses is a far cry from showing said businesses were the drivers behind the development of video streaming.

It's a huge stretch to imagine the mammoth streaming video market with the likes of Google/YouTube, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, and others a mere side effect of x-rated video streaming.

A simple comparison of annual sales ought to suffice, x-rated video streaming versus all the rest.

Pat's referring to the technology development. The impetus to develop the technology was to stream porn. That tech was later picked up by others to stream not porn.

I've never had a computer that wasn't fast enough to function as a word processor. All of my acquisitions over the years were so that I could play games at high frame rates.

I'm guessing the very first text file downloaded from Internet was ascii porn.
