"You're effectively saying that California went to the dems because most people voted dem...which is obvious enough to even the most casual observer that it likely doesn't need to be stated. : )"

What I'm saying is that California is not all Democratic and not everyone voted that way so don't blame all of us for the mess that comes out of the big cities. If the republicans want to win the popular vote, they need to un-brainwash the folks living in those big cities and not just appeal to rural America.

Hopefully Trump tackles infrastructure soon (which he should have addressed first) and that might sway some more voters.

Capping interest deductions in the most expensive housing market states won't win him any votes.

Shouldn't city infrastructure be a local issue though? Why does this always have to involve the federal government?

Because like the politicians, they all want to make their own rules, decide what to do within their jurisdictions...but still suckle the government teat, so they don't have to actually produce a damn thing from within. That said...how much of his "infrastructure" plan involves city infrastructure? I was under the impression he was focusing on federal, as in the interstate highway system. And knowing him, his plan for utility infrastructure (electric/fresh water/waste water) isn't going to involve government money or personnel, but rather egging companies who specialize in those areas into doing more, by way of tax breaks or other incentives.

Businessman.

NOT politician.

Speaking of the corporations...probably the most inspiring part of all this to me (other than the growth itself), hasn't been mentioned at all by anyone.

His "plan" was to pass the tax reform so that companies and industries "could" give back to employees, so they "could" take better care of the working class, so they "could" pay higher wages. That's a lot of "could".

What impresses me is...the corporations ARE doing all these things.

This could easily be a case like the Dems predicted - fat cat executives will simply line their own pockets, and screw the little guy. But reality is...corporations, fat cats, executives, entire INDUSTRIES are so in-step, so supportive, so enthusiastic about our President...they're doing EXACTLY what he predicted they would. They're PROUD to be American companies again. They're PROUD to be able to PAY AMERICAN WORKERS. They're PROUD to be able to foster the American Dream.

They're DOING IT.

They're not being self-centered, greedy, or evil - as the Dems tried to predict.

There's a sense of TEAM again - the American team.

It reminds me of what the history books told me about the WPA and the New Deal back in the 30s, to help recover from the great Depression. FDR did a shit-ton of good for this country with that plan...yet NOBODY has yet drawn the parallel to the MAGA era! Hell, he's talking about resurrecting the infrastructure that IS the old New Deal interstate highway program...but nobody's made the connection yet? Bring back manufacturing? Bring back American jobs? People are talking Reagan...but I'm seeing New Deal when I look at all this. And judging by corporate reactions; Dow behavior; workforce response; and all the anecdotal success stories I'm seeing around here...I'm not the only one who has this feeling of pride in our country again.

I still felt pride in my country when the previous President was happy with gang rape as a terrorist tool by his Muslim Brotherhood buddy who took over Egypt with Obama's aid & support. He had to be happy about the gang rape since he said nothing about it and the minions in the press refused to report it even when their own were victims.

I didn't say "he's not my President". That's a fatuous lie. He was mine. Didn't want a communist liar, didn't vote for him, but he got hired and I was stuck with him like the rest of the planet.

I did feel free to criticize his policies. Just like the guy before him and the guy after. It's the difference between Americans and most of the planet.

And I did complain about him and his policies. Certain idiots don't see the difference between The Glorious Leader and the country they rule. I've argued with them here. I don't blame the English for the Mayor of London. ( I blame Londoners. Like I blame New Yorkers for their Mayor ) I certainly don't think any Brits I meet in a pub for a Lager are the same as their rulers. I feel I can mock Prince Charles for his inbred foibles just as they can mock Donald's foibles. Same with Iran. Whatever philosophical conflict I have with a culture, Brave Iranian women are standing up in protest. Knowing that they are sniper targets for the Mullah's thugs. I certainly don't think those people are the same as the cowardly old men who rule their land.

So... unlike Michelle Obama, I kept my pride in America no matter how horrible our politicians are.

Mostly because complaining is our National Sport. 1st Amendment in the Rule Book.

I can complain about Donald on the street corner and have little fear that armed thugs in uniforms will come to my house in the night to silence me. ( the previous guy would have me followed and hacked and abuse his power but even he is not often accused of disappearing his enemies. Either he was really good at it or it was rare. )

I might have to argue with Trump fans on that street corner. I have no doubt that if Hillary had "won" that her fans would not argue, but assault. ( after all, her and Obama's campaign both sent thugs to beat folk at their opponent's rallies )

It's going to take more than that to make me a Trump fan. But I do consider the difference between arguments with words with Trump Fans & sticks with nails arguments with Hillary fans to be a win.

...which ties into my earlier comment about his infrastructure plan (or my speculation thereabout, at least).

I really don't think our President wants the government doing the heavy lifting on infrastructure; he's said himself, their noses are in too many pieces of business already. I truly suspect THIS type of activity is what he's planning for. Encourage our industries to take it upon themselves to make it happen; hire American workers to do the work; pay them well; grow the job market; AND repair our deteriorating infrastructure.

Win/win/win/win.

Seriously, your point is well taken. In my daily quest for the news I'm seeing more and more examples of folks on the left connecting the dots and giving (admittedly, sometimes begrudgingly) P45 credit for the historic, breathtaking economic numbers.

At some point (perhaps we're there already) the positive indicators and numbers will reach critical mass and even the most brainwashed, outspoken leftist will simply step aside for fear of being made the fool..again.

I see your point, and P45 is savvy enough to know that much of his success as president revolves around dispensing red pills (or, to put it another way, "branding") in one form or another. There isn't a single prescription for this, a one-size-fits-all.

But, touting the numbers - especially when the numbers are verifiable, especially when the numbers are directly corresponding with more money in our pockets, especially when the numbers reflect the amazing new investments in our infrastructure - well, all makes for a great red pill, even for the most hard corpse libtards residing in all 57 states.

MAGA! : )

Walls Close In Around DOJ and FBI Small Group Participants
Sundance, Jan. 5, 2018

Several stories broke yesterday:

- Senator Ron Johnson gains copies of the manipulated/edited FBI small group talking points that exonerated Hillary Clinton despite overwhelming evidence. Johnson is a Senate Judiciary Committee member and remains focused on those specifics.

- Senator Chuck Grassley has identified that former FBI Director James Comey leaked classified FBI information to the media to gain political leverage. Additional questions are now raised by the Senate Judiciary Chairman.

- The FBI has begun a new review of the Clinton Foundation pay-to-play network during Hillary Clintons tenure at the State Dept. Investigators are questioning the people within the Clinton foundation about actions taken as a result of donations to the foundation.

- A federal judge has ruled that Fusion GPS must turn over its bank records to the House Intelligence Committee, including records of financial payments to journalists and media outlets to push the Christopher Steele Dossier story.

- House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes will be receiving all remaining DOJ documents, without redaction, that pertain to the 2016 DOJ/FBI FISA court application. In addition eight key members of the FBI small group will be questioned by the committee.

- The Dept. of Justice it reopening the investigation into Hillary Clintons email use; and how both Clinton and her aide Huma Abedin used, shared and stored classified documents on their personal servers and devices.

I've heard a few of the nay-sayers complain that some of the companies will use their tax break to buy back stock instead of stimulate the economy. So what? That's like complaining that Comcast employees will use their $1000 bonus to pay off credit card debt rather than spend it.
If Apple uses $1b to buy back some stock, that money is not lost or locked up. Those who sold their stock to Apple are now in possession of that $1b. They'll use it to invest in other companies looking for capital for expansion, hiring new workers, R&D, etc.
Contrary to what liberals think, it's not a zero sum game.

Note to NeverTrumps: Trump's Character Is Admirable
Karin McQuillan, Jan. 5, 2018

As more and more people who hate Trump are forced to admit his achievements as president, they are doubling down on character assassination. Even Trump voters often preface their satisfaction with Trumps actions by criticizing his tweets or his personality. Heres an alternate take on things:

Trumps character is responsible for his outstanding performance in his first year as president. If you want to know who someone is, you look at what he does.

What we have: A booming economy, growing jobs, more lawful governance, fewer regulations, more global security.

What character traits this took: Hard work, focus, commitment, courage, honesty, independence, incorruptibility, self-confidence, love of excellence.

The list of Trumps positive character traits goes on and on. You dont get achievements independent of character.

His Job is Done Admiral Mike Rogers Announces His Retirement
Sundance, Jan. 5, 2018

Reuters is reporting that NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers has announced to his staff he is resigning, and that a nominee will be announced to replace him shortly.

It took us a while to figure it out, but now that we have become aware of his place in history, Rogers' departure makes sense. His incredible accomplishments are complete.

In hindsight it appears that President Trump was fully aware when the tide would change. The moment when an empowered group of congressional people would develop the coordinated plan to defeat the corruption amid a corrupt intelligence apparatus Admiral Rogers had been holding back for the past several years.

On October 7th, 2017 President Trump stated:

quote:

"You guys know what this represents? Maybe its the calm before the storm."

Everyone was trying to figure out what the president meant. The media went bananas for a few cycles talking about it. However, a picture from that evening in addition to the recent discoveries likely tells us all we need to know:

That night, NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers was seated at the head of the table as each member of the military likely aware -in varying degrees- just how consequential NSA Director Mike Rogers was in fending off the biggest constitutional crisis in the history of the U.S.

A grateful U.S. President, recognizing a great and patriotic man, amid many great and patriotic men. And no one outside that room even knew. Until now.

Big letters. Comic sans. "I told you so!"......

It's funny, you have to either do extensive research or... lived through it.

Back when Bush the Younger had Congress pass "The Patriot Act", Dems went ape claiming he'd use this horrible power to become Big Brother and destroy America as a free society. Many Reps pointed out how the Clinton administration rules led directly to 9/11/2001, where CIA information on the AQ terrorists was withheld from the FBI so that the attack that could have been stopped instead was allowed to go forward.

Both sides had valid points. An evil president could abuse domestic spying and attack his political enemies in highly illegal ways. And the compartmentalized system set up did permit terrorists to operate without law enforcement being informed.

Supporters of Bush argued that A. The power was temporary. & B. George wasn't a fascist monster and wouldn't abuse his power.

Both technically true.

Some people ( like me ) agreed that we needed the cross connections to combat terrorism, but we must be wary of the Patriot Act because "Georgie might be a nice guy, but his successor, presumably Hillary, would abuse the power." There was also concern that no theft of freedom is ever temporary.

As it turns out, George for all his faults, was not a dictator. ( you can start the score board now. Three lists of right or wrong. Dems, Reps, "Paranoids". )

Then Barry came to power. Barry did abuse the Patriot Act. Barry pushed through a Dem Congress a bill making his power to abuse the system permanent. ( so much for temporary ) & cranked the system to make it easier to hide the abuse. He also put loyalists in power ( every President does ) & set them loose to attack his enemies. ( one of the early Lois Lerner comments meant to cover up Obama's role in the IRS crimes was basically "we just knew what was wanted" and committed felonies as normal business. )

Further abuses of the Patriot Act, FISA court, & domestic spying on political enemies are a common theme this last year. No need to repeat them here.

I get no joy from the "I told you so". We may never know the full extent of the crimes of the Obama administration in their domestic spying program. But we now know it nearly cost us free elections. Forever.

It's easier to count the dead cops Obama's racism caused. That count isn't over.

It's even easier to count the hundreds of thousands dead directly by Obama's foreign policy, and the raped women of Sweden and Europe. That number is also still growing.

But the cost of the Domestic intelligence abuses of Obama are very hard to count. It nearly cost us Everything. And still can.

Remember. Power you give the guy you like WILL fall into the hands of those you don't. The Dems are learning this very painfully as Trump holds the power they gleefully handed Obama. Suckers.
