http://www.nationalreview.com/article/453632/roy-m oore-defenders-disgusting

I'm going on record here. If Roy did as alleged and molested a 14 year old girl, back when he was in his thirties, then he should not be in Congress. He should not be defended by anyone because he's their Party favorite. He should be a convict or dead.

Sure, we live in the age of "me too" where everybody seems to be jumping on the bandwagon to accuse people, true or false, of sex crimes. Each accused has a Legal Right to presumption of innocence. In a court of law.

But no one. No one. Doubts Harvey isn't pure scum. Bill Clinton may have not raped the several women who accused him. But there is zero doubt that he committed sexual misconduct against subordinates under his command.

I personally don't think screwing your way through the secretarial pool deserves being publicly executed, by itself. Threatening the women you screw and paying hush money, with threats. ( Hush money always comes with threats. Carrot & Stick ) THAT deserves flogging followed by exposure. Or in a civilized society, prison for many years while appeals run through the courts followed by burial.

So please keep an open mind while accusations fly about. There WILL be false accusers paid by political enemies to trash political runs for office. The punishment for that should be a Soviet style bullet for the political enemy that so conducts themselves. Unfortunately I'm unaware that the law agrees with me.
Also keep in mind that anyone making excuses for sexual assault should be kicked hard in the nuts. Then considered a piece of crap unworthy of trust, ever again.

No excuses. I don't care what your Party, Ideology, or wealth is, rape is rape. Child molesters deserve no praise. Society, us, our children, deserve the removal of kiddie rapists from our presence. Permanently. Period.

It unusual that this sort of sexual misconduct comes out decades later, and everybody is caught completely off guard, as seems to be the case with Roy Moore, as I understand it. It's typically more of an open "secret". When 38 years go by, without hints of this going on, and suddenly 4 weeks before the election, someone makes this sort of accusation, it really needs to be questioned. When the accuser has worked for the Hillary campaign, it REALLY needs to be questioned. We saw the same sort of thing happen with Trump, and suddenly they are gone. Sadly, there are just times when you need to be suspicious of the "victim". This seems to have all the signs of being one of those times.

Perhaps. The timing is..... fortunate for some.

The upside is that IF it's slander, politically motivated, private citizens can be sued. And if innocent I'd certainly sue, but not for money, which would backfire, a rich famous guy suing a poor family. For public apology and revealing the politicians that put her up to it.

You nearly can't sue a fellow politician for any filth they spread. And being a public figure makes you open to vile speech with no legal recourse. Otherwise we'd need to build new prisons to hold the Trump death threat squads.

Nonetheless, Roy's campaign is fatally wounded now.

Expect more of the same if this is a successful ploy.

There are a couple of ways to approach the problem of politicians accused of sex crimes.

The wrong way is to excuse some, and attack others. This is the Democrat way, where women were told they should be lining up to give bill Clinton a Lewinski in thanks for his support of abortion, never mind the rape charges, he's a Feminist Icon! Then turn around and hound a Republican Congresscritter for playing footsie in an airport restroom.

( and it's HARD not to be gleeful when a self righteous Family Values pol gets caught in a garter belt and fishnets, or trying to get laid in an airport. You expect a Democrat to screw around. The advantage, if you are evil, of rejecting morality is you have no constraints. Claiming moral superiority just opens you to anything. )

The Right way, IMHO, is to demand that EVERY pol accused step down until the matter is settled. Every one. Period. And. Prosecute accusers that are lying.

Yes, this means that this will be used as a weapon by the evil people. But if an anonymous tip to the Washington Post can get a politician out of running, ANYONE can, and will, do this until the public perception grows the heck up. If it's a game anyone can play, why shouldn't I claim to be a 13 year old girl molested by Elizabeth Warren in a Dairy Queen?

Not that I would openly advocate dishonesty in politics.

One thing that stuck with me (not a congresscritter case, but the news guy...whatsisname...Rose?) is the definition of "harassment".

Rose's statement - whether you believe him or not - was "I thought I was responding to a shared interest at the time". In other words, he thought the women were interested and (again, according to his statements) when he found they weren't, he stopped.

At what point does interest in someone who doesn't feel the same way, change from simple rejection into "harassment"?

The traditional definition would be "persistent, unwelcome advances", but nowadays it seems if you make even a single overture towards someone who's not interested, they holler "harassment!!".

There is DELIBERATE confusion between harassment and "a bit over the line", and outright sexual assault.

This is by partisan and evil people that want to use this crap as a weapon.

Just my opinion here,

Al Franken deserves a kick in the nuts for being a jerk, not beheading.

Judge Moore deserves jail time if the one actual accusation of a 14 year old is true, the rest are just smoke, legal, consensual, relationships.

Bill Clinton, if allegations of rape are true, deserves beheading. Hillary, for being a "she asked for it" lawyer deserves a kick in the groin. Or worse. I haven't decided if simple corporal punishment or being buried alive is appropriate... and lean towards the latter in those cases.

whatshisface who had revenge porn from a former, consensual girlfriend post a nude he sent her deserves to be laughed at. And she deserves a civil suit.

There are different punishments for different crimes, and I'm not a big fan of proportionality, but you don't kill someone for shoplifting. A little mature judgment is needed here.

Lessons? Don't send nude photos. Don't take nude photos. Not all accusations are real, and those who bear false witness deserve justice just as those who do other wrongs.

Those who would cover for rape for partisan purposes deserve a special place in hell, and according to Dante, there is one.

YMMV.

My points exactly. The libtards love to blow everything out of proportion, and with this recent "fad" (and that's what it seems like to me, since the Russia crap is falling apart now) of "outing" all this past "harassment" activity for just about everyone...it's just the popular thing to do at the moment, and the line between "failed interest" and "harassment" is being intentionally blurred in the press.

And I think the Dems are making noise about throwing Slick Willy under the bus, to gain "credibility" when it comes to persecuting the Republicans who are being accused these days. "What?? We're going after one of our own, too...."

The Judge Moore thing seems a bit creepy but considering the age of consent in Alabama back then, and maybe now, was 16 it seems he did nothing legally wrong except for the 14 year old. I remember back in the College days I knew a 17 year old dating a 14 year old. Illegal? Yes. Would anybody guess she was 14? Hell no! She was on the front cover of Macy's Summer Catalog in a bikini, and filled it out! Absolutely beautiful young lady and extremely mature yet still illegal. So did the Judge know she was 14 or did she lie about her age? That is the key to the whole matter. Of course that's all unless there was any forcing of issues but I've only heard of heavy petting but I haven't heard the latest accusations.

Harassment is totally legal, only very narrow specific types have been made illegal. It is up the parties involved to establish consent or live with the consequences. Of course, I expect law enforcement officers to have a deeper knowledge of local laws than lay people such as journalists or comedians.

I have been surprised specifically on the whole Charlie Rose angle because journalists are especially skilled with language. Consent could easily have been established, yet Charlie could not avoid writing his own fate.

Speaking of the confederate flag...has anyone else noticed a total LACK of Dukes of Hazzard reruns? Used to be able to find 'em SOMEwhere on the higher channels pretty easily...

They're disappearing, just like statues...

Speaking of, I was watching some of the "Unearthed" marathon on Science channel yesterday. They were in an Aztec ruin, talking about how the whole empire fell about the same time all the icons/statues were defaced.

Hmmmm......

What's the old adage? Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it?

I was a total fan of the Dukes of Hazzard as a kid, I was in love with Uncle Jesse. I was happy to see John Schneider in Superboy, Tom Wopat has been having somewhat less success. I think Roscoe ran for the state legislature and won.

You can lose perspective by not knowing your history but you can also lose perspective by not living in the present.

I'm curious what you see has changed. As far as I can see, the party of racism has stayed the same. That's not to say that there isn't more than enough racism to go around in both parties, but the Democrats have, in one way or another, institutionalized it for many generations now.

What I do see that has changed, is that I have a much better understanding of the various issues that lead up to the civil war. Frankly, it's hard for me so see either side as having the exclusive moral high ground. Because of that gained understanding, I've come to have a certain empathy for the plight of the south at that time. I can certainly understand how the Confederate flag has become symbolic of what they went through, without necessarily being about race. Interestingly enough, living way up at the 45th parallel, we have some areas where the Confederate flag being flown is quite a common sight. Honestly, I'm not sure how that has come to be, or even when that came to be. Are they D or R? I really don't know.

Here in CA the confederate flag people are apologists and say it's more a state's rights/ redneck style thing than a segregation thing. I can't speak for the rest of the country.

I think you can ask any black man what has changed in the past 100 years and they'll be happy to tell you.

I would tend to think it's similar up here where I'm at too. Yet, we are being told all the time how it's a symbol of racism. Who to believe?

Symbols are to people what they think they are. I'm sure the Indians aren't too happy that their swastika is almost universally reviled through no fault of their own. The battle flag means different things to different people. While you can make a really good argument that the civil war was not fought over slavery, an undeniable outcome of the war was the abolition of the practice. It's easy to understand why some people view the flag as a symbol that is antithetical to their freedom.
