I've been wanting to get a wheel balancer for a while but wanted to do some research. I finally got around to it and after seeing many that would work fine I found this with a feature I really liked:
The cones are not tapered but stepped. This means you don't have to tighten a set screw which mars the shaft. It is stepped in all the different bearing ID's. It's not a bolt together item, it's shipped welded together. A very nice set up, or should I say Kit, since it is from England! |

Are you sure it's not from Sweden? |

No kidding! It's pretty quiet compared the other ABBA! |

I've got my old two bearing rear wheel laying in the garage. I think I'll throw it on there and see how well it's balanced. I used computerized balancing equipment in our shop balancing pump impellers and large fans and compressors. The equipment was so precise that we could program in the size of the keyways so it would take that into consideration. A lot easier than making 1/2 keys to fill the voids. Using this thing will bring me back to basics! |

I'm afraid not, I just put it up there so I wouldn't have to bend over so far to take a picture! I put the old rear wheel on and it was far from balanced but it doesn't have the pulley or the rotor on it either. The stepped inserts worked perfect. The Uly used the second to last step.

I see the steps are metric, too bad for inch bearing fans. Why yes, I eyeballed that. (No, I really looked here.http://abbastandsusa.com/product-detail.asp?item=w heel-balancer&pid=14) |

That is true but I believe the Harley is running metric bearings and obviously the Buell is. If worse comes to worse I can make a custom bushing. I walked away for a while and the wheel was still so I took a used intake seal and gently set it on top of the tire about 2" off center and the tire recentered itself. When I removed it, it moved back. Very accurate. |
