Hell, I live just South of Columbus and I might not be able to go.

I will be teaching some peeps how to ride.
If I get done early enough Sunday, I might try to make it...

If you are coming to Columbus, make sure you carve out some time to go to Iron Pony!
You wont regret it....

Never got a chance to get to Iron Pony but they did have a HUGE display at the AIMExpo. That convention center is gigantic and not terribly easy to navigate as it is multiple levels and spans a couple of blocks. I did get a chance to ride the new Venture and I came away "Somewhat Impressed." The demo route allowed me to experience EXACTLY what I wanted: Hot day riding in congested traffic.

The heat coming off that huge, air-cooled twin was far less than I was expecting. Only my booted feet felt any heat and the floorboards were wide enough to allow me to slide my feet outwards to escape it. Handling was surprisingly light for a bike rated at 950 lbs with a full load of fuel.

I even got a chance to play with the "Park Assist" feature after we got back to the staging area. That'll come in really handy where footing is "spotty" (like a parking spot covered in sand/gravel). The seat is low enough that both feet are solidly on the ground and that does make it easy to move it around when traction is good and the ground is level.

I didn't get to play with any of the other technological bells and whistles beyond trying the two different drive modes (Sport and Touring) and one inadvertent test of the ABS (remind me to tell you about that some time).

The Convention Center was a quick walk from the "Short North" district which is a Foodie's paradise. I only tried one place at a friend's suggestion (Philco Diner) but the walk to and from that place was an olfactory experience. Most of my meals were covered by the AMA since I was there as a Congress Delegate.

There were a LOT of Chinese and Korean motorcycle brands there that I'd NEVER heard of. Besides the four major Japanese brands, Indian, Polaris, and Harley Davidson I also saw BMW and KTM (who unveiled their MotoGP bike on Thursday).

I was surprised not to see any of the Italian brands, or Triumph. I guess they'll reveal their wares in Europe. Also, Honda only had the current model GoldWing on display, not the version that has been leaked out to the internet.

I don't know how I let it slip my mind. I was really looking forward to going; but for some silly reason, I thought it was next week.

Ah; hell; maybe next year.
