China has a habit of putting back doors and self destruct circuits in the hardware they sell. The military buys from the lowest bidder, most of the time. Or people complain they didn't get the contract and Washington is wasting money. I know it doesn't look that way when a bomber costs a Billion dollars, and a Carrier costs nearly 9. But the parts that come from the subcontractors are lowest bidder, and if you've been to Lowest Bidder Walmart, you know that means cheap crap from China, or someplace with even cheaper labor. And we've paid to upgrade China's industry by over a Trillion Dollars, not counting the trade deficit, and Walmart. So they make the cheap chips. The chips that run ships. Golly, it would be nice if this was paranoia. I'd love it if the Chinese aren't testing their ability to take over our ships at the same time they are making island fortresses and airfields on islands in strategic positions, ( that are over, or next to, oil fields underwater ) and threatening to shoot down our planes and sink our ships if we stick our noses in their business. Parents upset because kindergarteners are coming home asking about transsexuals. I'm all for honest and early sex education. But by early I mean fourth or fifth grade. I'm willing to annoy uptight parents who are culturally or psychologically incapable of dealing with sex. ( I never tell children to grow up. I often tell adults to ) But even this social liberal thinks sexual indoctrination at five years old is nuts. Kids that age don't often have any notion of sex at all. It's the perfect time to program them....... and unfortunately the people writing the program today include sexual predators. Yes, legal limits on sex and other responsibility is arbitrary. And contradictory. And varies unpredictably. A 14 year old can marry in some states. ( Romeo & Juliet were that age. The play is ABOUT how stupid/emotional kids are ) This was standard in Europe through a LOT of history, when 50 was really old. Our culture is obviously neurotic in choosing to delay our recognition of maturity until Draft age. Don't get me started on drinking age etc. But teaching the merits of minority sexual weirdness at five? Something is terribly wrong when pushing that agenda is mandatory and condemning sexual mutilation is hate speech. | ||
