Hey all- I figured it'd be a good time to start a post about the impending craziness... We live smack dab in the trajectory for Monday's eclipse, and the whole area will be covered up with people coming from all over the country and around the world! My mailman said little old Sweetwater TN will be expecting 50,000+, and that's just south of my house. I'M STAYING HOME. Gonna work up some kind of fun fixin's for food, hang out all day, and NOT deal with nutjobs all over the roads. Post up what youn's know or suspect about the impending chaos. I expect to have a very enjoyable day! | ||

I wanted to go but I'm about 700 miles from the nearest point. I told my daughter in Denver to drive up to Carhenge in Alliance, NE. I'd expect to see a few crazies there. | ||

Vern, I'm pretty sure we're gonna get 100% of the totality... SO glad I took off Monday! I'm staying home fo sho. Travel times are going to quadruple or worse. My sis said Nashville hotels are sold out- the last couple of extra seedy rooms in the wrong part of town were going for $500! Folks around the area are renting a patch of dirt on their property to pitch a tent for $200! My girl at the liquor store said scalpers are asking $100 for a set of the eclipse glasses... yeesh. I put in an order from the legit makers of the glasses- American Paper Optics, eclipseglasses.com, they required a minimum of 25 shipped FedEx- paid $155.85 yesterday and just got them this morning. Already have most of them spoken for, gonna send my sis a few out in Little Rock by USPS today. Smoky Mountain HD in their eternal wisdom has announced an Eclipse Ride that day, returning to the dealership by 2-230. RIIIIGHT.  | ||
