Went to the Buckley Old Engine show today. Thought I would share a few pics. Sorry you can't hear and smell them run.

One of the coolest displays they had, that I had no idea how to capture in a picture, was a steam powered oil pump rig. Huge steam engine with a belt drive that had to be about 18 inches wide, ran to a horizontal flywheel that had to be 40 feet in diameter, than ran an offset crankshaft that pulled on rods laying on the ground that went out to oil pumps. They said the oil pumps could be up to a mile away. Incredible stuff!

I love that stuff! When we used to go to the Rattlesnake Roundup in Whigham,GA everyone else would be headed for the snakes I'd be checking out the hit and miss engines and old tractors.I always wanted a tractor but never had a place to keep one.

Lot's of hit and miss engines there. Not very interesting in a picture though, IMO. Very cool to see and hear run. I'm trying to come up with a "need" for one.

Lot's of stuff that would fit into the What Do You Torture You Lawn With thread. Thousands of old farm tractors, many that are quite unusual.

It's a very cool show in that they have some permanent displays built there such as the oil field I mentioned earlier. The also have a working saw mill set up. Also a steam passenger train they were giving rides on. It's a show I'm sure I'll go to again. Worth checking out if you are in the area when it's going on.

Remember Dark Horse Moto?

Our friend Keith's engine, inherited from family, 1920s vintage.

I love the Rumley oilpulls I have never seen one but apparently, they have a bizarre three-flavor carb that has gas, kerosene, and water.

Start it on gas til it's warmed up.
Turn on the kerosene/off the gas.
When it's really working, water is introduced to cool it and give it an extra kick!
