I need magnification. There is no doubt about that. My eye sight is not very good.

Took a quick trip to the range today. Put 100 rounds through each of these three:

This group was with the Beretta at 21 feet. One 15 round mag and one 10 round mag, firing as fast as I could pull the trigger and changing magazines as quickly as I could. I need to work on bringing it back to the center, but not bad for being as rusty as I am.

With the big Ruger I can pretty much put holes anywhere I want at 100 feet. It's heavy and slow, but I feel pretty confident it would stop a bear in it's tracks.

The little Ruger .380 is fussy about what I feed it. Found out it prefers Underwood Xtreme Penetrators, but those are a bit expensive to burn at the range.

Pwnzor,

Just curious. Have you tried any of the Polycase or Ruger ARX .380 ammo?

FYI:
Ruger ARX .380 is listed at 1,315 fps.
Polycase ARX .380 is listed at 1,150 fps.

I have shot Ruger ARX in several or my 9mms with good results.
I don't intend to buy another .380 but I would like to know how it performs in the LCP.

Rick,

Maybe I need to be a bit more clear. I said most lower end scopes.
I have many Vortex scopes.
I consider the Razor and Golden Eagle series to be top end.
I consider the Viper series to be midrange.
I consider the Diamondback series to be lower end.
Yes, some of the bottom end scopes are made in China including the Crossfire I bought to replace the Bugbuster.
I liked the short focal range of the Bugbuster but the faulty crosshairs were a no go.
I have had no issues with the Crossfire.

Absolutely.

I would consider that as all of their lower end scopes being Chinese.

Rick,
Both of my Diamondback scopes (lower end) are made in the Philippines.

I would consider the Philippines made scopes mid range in quality regardless of the price.

Gun phobia. Trained reactions of a anti human rights movement. Psychological problems by propaganda.

Or the Victoria cops are morons.

Do they drop napalm on the neighborhood when kids play cops and robbers?

Underwood Xtreme Penetrator = 1100FPS
Underwood Xtreme Defender = 1400FPS

Feeds perfectly every time. Next time I make it down to the range, I'll try and pick up some of the ammo you mentioned and report back here.

Found this by chance today.

http://world.time.com/2012/12/20/the-swiss-differe nce-a-gun-culture-that-works/

quote:

Unlike some other heavily armed nations, Switzerland’s gun ownership is deeply rooted in a sense of patriotic duty and national identity.

Well yeah...it's the same thing the left has been trying to chop down here since our inception.

A united people will behave that way.

Playing identity politics, victim games, and excusing criminal activity while attacking 1st and 2nd Amendment rights isn't exactly a constructive pursuit.

quote:

One of the reasons the crime rate in Switzerland is low despite the prevalence of weapons — and also why the Swiss mentality can’t be transposed to the current American reality — is the culture of responsibility and safety that is anchored in society and passed from generation to generation. Kids as young as 12 belong to gun groups in their local communities, where they learn sharpshooting.

How insanely ironic.

I had NRA training with .22 rifles in 3rd grade in Cub Scouts. It was on an Army post and all the adults were WW2 vets, so that made a difference.

It's ridiculous that most any formal training has been removed from public institutions while they've been shoving legislation down our throats for decades and demonizing anything gun related...then have the nerve to say, "look at the Swiss, they're doing it right," when it used to be the same here until politicians killed it.

I have underwood defender in my micro carry. Strange that the penetrator has a lower FPS rating than the defender. Is the penetrator heavier?

I got a box of the Underwood Extreme Defenders for my .45.
120gr at 1420fps

I have not fired any yet.
Do they make them for 9mm?

Yes indeed penetrators are heavier by 25 grains.

9mm are available in both Penetrator and Defender as well as a variety of hollow points

Ruger LCP can be had for just a few coins now that the LCP2 is out.

It takes a fairly close examination to tell it's in a front pants pocket.

I'm thinking either a LCP II or the S&W Bodyguard. Figured I'd ask to see what else I should be considering.

I saw a LCP II for $279. Haven't priced a Bodyguard lately.

My son has the Bodyguard and I have an LCP II.

The LCP II is hands down better simply because of the trigger.

I got a bodyguard .380 and I am totally disappointed in the action.
I expected a smaller version of my M&P Shield 9, it's not.
The pistol is always double action so it has a HEAVY pull.
