While eating out Fox News was on and they had a header with the buzzwords "Trump administration Russia collusion" with the next commentator stating something about the Republican party in possible collapse and the Democrats being a future threat with a new populist platform.

It's all a bit silly.

I thought I was watching CNN for a minute.

Echoing the ongoing debate about the death of the American dream of improving living standards

When was the American Dream about improving living standards?????

And here I thought it was about liberty and freedom!

More fake news...

When was the American Dream about improving living standards?????

It was the idea that each generation's hard work would make the next generation's life better.

That was canceled by the Barry regime. Considered a counterrevolutionary blasphemy.

Or, arguably, we hit the point of diminishing returns, at least in wealthy America, with the children now expected to live with their parents until? ( since regulations and overspending have made the young folk summer job obsolete. Grand dad is doing that McDonalds shift now. )

I'd say The Dream isn't dead, but it does need some medication.

I haven't read the details but Donald supposedly canceled the Trans in the military decree Barry made.

This is greeted with joy by the Trump Haters since it's another thing to use against his homophobic racist nazi russian dictatorship.

I'm not sure it's a good thing.

I've long supported the idea of all lesbian Striker units to be deployed in combat in Islamic lands. The Xena Brigade.

I'd bet that a trans platoon is just the thing to freak out the taliban. Plus they'd be perfect for spotting terrorists trying to pass as girls in a burka to get past checkpoints. : )

The American Dream is to be free to succeed without regard to caste. As we've witnessed over the last few administrations, anyone can grow up to be president. It's not about cashing in on the success of our parents (that kind of nepotism is what the colonists fled) it's about being free to succeed on our own, and make something of ourselves without the government telling us we can't because we aren't the right color, religion, caste, or that we came out of the wrong uterus/testicle. That's the American Dream, and the promise of America.

All kidding aside, people with gender dysphoria issues are not what you want in a unit, any more than you'd want anyone else with untreated psychological issues.

Why aren't we treating these poor souls? Instead we celebrate their condition as "diversity". It's like no one wants them to get better, but to suffer their entire lives, or undergo a sort of anti-treatment involving cutting parts off of them and pumping them full of hormones. There's got to be a better way.

I'm fairly vocal here on equal rights, and willing to argue for them.

The change from "not normal with real problems" to "must pretend they're not weird" does no one a service.

I'm more sure of my footing on the children issue, I think it's wrong to experiment with sex change chemistry before you've hit puberty, and while there are arguments for the supposed ease of transition, since a male won't grow a beard or, grow up, until you can feminize with hormones, it's still a kid's parents that are screwing his life up, before he has a chance to see the alternatives.

If you're 22 and still want to live life as the opposite sex, I figure you've got a fair chance of making your mind up with the facts at hand. I still think you're better off seeing a shrink than a hairdresser, if only to feel better about your weirdness, so you aren't a suicide statistic.

The problem the Obama plan is/was, if you want a sex change but can't afford it, join the military and have them pay for it. I object to taxpayers picking up the tab for this. If you want a sex change and be in the military, join up after you pay for the operation.

Agreed agreed.

The military is no place for social experiments and social justice crap.

Any one not physically or mentally sound need not have concessions made at the detriment of all.

As a veteran, i've never cared what color you are, sex you are.

What I care about is integrity and character. These two traits set the tone for everyone's life.

You have a character flaw if you think your burden isn't your own, but for all to be burdened with.

You have an integrity flaw if you believe you can waltz into any organization and demand they change because "you've arrived".

Where the mistake was made in our societal fabric was the "normalizing" of deviant behavior. So, now we know that the stupid statement "live and let live" isn't really healthy after all for an ordered/law abiding society.

Some things are immutable.

This raises some interesting questions about DNC e-mail leaks http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2017/07/unde rstanding-the-awan-connection.php

In addition, what national security info has been spread by the Dem IT dept.? It is easy to assume that there is something bad for the Dems here, since their propaganda arm, the MSM, has been silent about it.

Doesn't mean there's something bad about the DNC in it because the MSM is ignoring it...just that the info calls the DNC into question and the MSM folks don't want to suddenly commit suicide because they decided to talk about it.

Personally I think they're guilty as hell and it needs to come out, and they need to get sent to Gitmo for their crimes. Or...THEY need to decide to shoot themselves in the back of their own heads twice, like many of the folks who cross the Clinton regime one too many times.

Stupid.

The same people who have been breeding inefficiency bureaucracy and waste in our various public institutions and programs for decades think it's just dandy to continue on with the same.

Of course they do. It's their job.

A court just decreed that a politician can't ban someone from posting comments on that politician's Facebook page. They plan to use this in the lawsuit against Donald for banning folk from his Twitter page.

I'm not sure if this is hilarious or ominous.

Any time you think a government bureaucracy is inefficient and a PITA to navigate, you should go deal with an Insurance Company bureaucracy. They really know how to stop any positive headway. And they'll raise your rates if you make any serious attempt at it.

Why aren't we treating these poor souls?

I'm not aware of any treatment for trans people other than the "social transition" of cross-dressing and using bathrooms of choice that does not involve hormones or surgery aka "medical transition."

I'm not opposed to eliminating sex change operations for all US military as a cost savings. I just don't think you need to have a ban on trans people who are already in the military at the same time.

I agree. We need a big can of "get over it" on both sides of this argument.

On the one hand, the military has to accept that a good soldier can like lipstick. ( after all, camo is just makeup ) And with so many women in the military, the macho factor has to, not go away, but be tempered with the understanding that courage and sacrifice knows no boundries. Gay, straight, man, women, you're all in this together.

On the other hand, understand equal does not mean privilege. you have no right to push your sex on anyone. And joining the military to get your plastic surgery done is just not how the system is supposed to work. Show a little common sense and compassion for the folk you might be freaking out. Not everyone grew up in San Francisco, the fellow from Montana might need a bit of time to get used to the weirdos. You might need some time to get used to him. He might be a great kisser. ; )

And for goodness sake, physics & biology is Reality, not opinion. Most women can't carry the same mass as far as a man, and some jobs just call for brute strength. If you're 5'2" and skinny, you are perhaps not going to be able to slam 155mm howitzer shells or break track with ease or at all, and might better drive a truck or be a sniper.

Hashtag Get Over It.

Just to be clear, it is estimated to cost 14x more for transgender military healthcare than for heterosexual military healthcare!

"I'm not aware of any treatment for trans people"

Of course you aren't. There isn't one. The very idea of treating gender dysphoria like any other dysphoria disorder is treated with violent hostility by the diversity at any cost folks.

The folks who are absolutely convinced that their leg shouldn't be there are not encouraged to have their leg cut off, they're encouraged to seek treatment for their disorder. But since it has to do with sexual orientation, even the idea of providing treatment is verboten. "Treatment" implies there's something wrong with a man wanting to dress up like a woman and use the ladies room, and that runs counter to the Progressive agenda, the health and welfare of the people actually dealing with this condition be damned.
