I put a deposit on this Craigslist find...
/mcd/d/buell-xbr-firebolt-track/6198053150.html

Word is that bike is from California, no title!

With motor work done, but no papers, what compression numbers is stock?
What compression range will require high octane?....

As a first time xb buyer, what am I looking for???

Planning on laying eyes on her next Tuesday.

Any history on bike would be great.
Thanks

This bike has been tracked already from the pic scans I did...and not maintained after...
o brake fluid is cooked/old
o front sprocket has seen hard acceleration
o ignition bypass, tether
o chain has seen better days
o front rotor wear/markings look like pulsation
I'd be thinking this bike, in this shape, could be had for much less $$$

My $0.02 REMEMBER---NO TITLE

This is an odd post. Guy claims to have put a deposit down on a bike and then starts asking questions. A California bike with no title = bike that's been declared a total loss. The remedy? Turn it into a track bike. I think some tracks won't let you run an undocumented bike, though. You would at least need a salvage title proving ownership, which will be impossible if the bike proves to have been stolen.

With motor work done, but no papers, what compression numbers is stock? Huh? What's one got to do with the other?

I'd say buy it. It's junk but you'll get $2500 of education out of this purchase. Not many of life's lessons come this cheap.
