I was thinking this gray SX might look really good with orange wheels, like the gray/orange paint scheme used on the later M2's and S3T's. Could one of you gurus (Glitch? Froggy?) help me out?

SX

Thanks in advance!

Back in the day of the red wheels, you may recall the black SX with red wheels that Cycle World tested.

Obviously turning the black to gray would be difficult, but I thought I might be able to turn the red to orange.

First attempt, with the wheels more gold, looked pretty cool, so I saved it.

My next attempt proved that this will require someone with a better program and more mad skillz...

black SX 'orange' wheels

I tried...

Keep in mind that there were two 'grays' used on SX's. Hot Rod Argent (a.k.a. Sidewinder Silver) and - what I believe is pictured above - Gunmetal Gray. What might look like a tweaked out Australian donkey on one gray, might look like the ultimate tribute to an American motorcycle brand with the other gray.

Thanks to the moderators, BTW!

Thanks, 1313.

Actually what got me thinking about this is LAP has a silver RX with red wheels up for auction on eBay. Some of the guys at EBRforum didn't think much of it while I said it was my favorite thing about the bike. Then I was looking at Superdukes yesterday and it occurred to me how much I like orange. Then I thought, why not combine the best of both worlds? I may just have to get one and try it.

As cheap as they are now . . . it's a project with little downside . . . I think the Volcano gray with the stunning orange wells would look great.

I even have some new EBR wheels not yet assembled, that are ripe for powdercoating. Thinking about doing something similar for my yellow SX, but not sure how well yellow wheels would look : p .

My guess is there are very few "bad" combinations.

I always think back to our meeting where Amy decided the IMS show bike would be "dusty green" . . . Well . . just looked and I'm finding the pic of the green bike . . (something like 300,000 pics to dig through) but here are some fun things I found in the pile . . .

I'll find that green bike . . if not, Brankin will have a photo of it.

Sorry . . . . didn't realize the pics were a problem.
