Got out early Monday morning. To the DMV in the driving rain. Nice lady calls my number as I am pulling the ticket out of the machine. Had 20 forms of ID. Passed the drivers license test. Fail the motorcycle test. Nice lady gives me the manual for motorcycle license knowledge. I forgot that in this state you can't just memorize their manual. You have to assemble their info in your mind and be able to use the logic presented to answer questions worded nothing like the manual presents it. I studied the manual with a highlighter in hand last night. Up and out again this morning. Tripped up by only one question today. I became bonafide to ride. That question did not have the best answer offered as a choice and I will stand by the answer I gave. It is how I ride in a particular situation and it has served me well. I do not agree with being allowed 240 minutes to take a 25 question test for a motorcycle license. If you are that slow, you should be restricted to riding Harleys and Heros. LOL.

So, after failing my first attempt to become bonafide. I went home. My wife says, "Honey, The dryer wont start". I ran some tests after digging the dryer out of it's hole that requires removing the washer. I unload a triple load of wet jeans from the dryer to find the motor will no longer respond to power. I call every washer for under $100 sale ad on Craig's list. I text all the numbers that did not pick up the phone and Email all the others. Just as I finnish a man calls. Well, it is on a job site under a tarp. His wife said it was too noisy. It's pouring rain and he is downtown working on permits. Gives me the address and tells me to go pick it up. Quite a few flooded streets later I find it hid inside the framed structure that is tarped over and raining inside as hard as outside. The dryer is dry. I load it up and give him a call about where to pay him. He says I sound like a decent guy and tells me it is free. I take it home get it up and running and spend 10 minutes telling him thank you and if you need anything.

Now I need a fishing license.

What state did you move to that required you to take a new exam for the license? Last I checked most would simply require you to surrender your license from the previous state and issue you the new state.

I'm surprised by that too. I moved from IL to MI last year and it took about 4 hours and about $700 to get everything done for the two of us with 5 vehicles, but no testing required.

I know Ourdee moved from IL to IN. Should have kept on going around the lake IMO.

Count your blessings
A fishing license is about the only license I can get

Just had to take the written and an eyeball exam. Illinois test is easy. Just read book and you don't have to think. I was first in line both days. Took maybe a 1/2 hour. I still have to do 2 Jeeps and Lil Red. Lil Red can be done for under $80 with a Vet. plate. $65 plain. Personalized is $125. Get 5 letters/#s. $22.50 per letter or $45 for "RD". How about "O" or .....? I'm thinking, go cheap.

Glitch, You are a blessed man!

I thought of something said to me when I was new in church, "Blessings and cursings come in the same package". Not to be confused with James 3:10.

I was amazed that I was able to change addresses on my license and my wife's license and all our vehicles on line yesterday. I was all psyched up to deal with the nightmare at the DMV, figuring it would be worse here (poor little county in the country instead of big, efficient one in the city). I went on to SCDMV's site to verify what kind of proof I had to bring with me when I discovered I could do everything on line. Hell, it would all been free, but we chose to spend $10 each to get updated driver's licenses so they'd show our current address. Pretty cool.

I think it only gets messy when you switch states.

Ya; me too! I'll let you know when I finally get off my duff and do it. I found the BMV ( in Ohio, it's the Bureau of Motor Vehicles - not the Registry or Department); now all I have to do is go by there and find out how bad they're going to soak me.

I'll possibly stop in there after my Doctor's Appointment tomorrow.
