What irony? EBR / Buell is/was a dud. Hero is the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world. Royal enfield is the reining champion manufacturer for longest production of any brand.
Ducatti is knocking on the door in moto-gp.

Buell didn't persist long enough to make even one reliable bike among all those self-destructing recycled sardine /coke cans.

Good old fashioned reliability rules over the get rich quick fly by night merchants!

Hero should let H-D buy Ducati.

Then Hero can buy H-D, which will include Ducati, and end up destroying them both! Two birds, one stone!

And HD was one of the reasons so many Buells were built. That doesn't negate the fact that both companies screwed Buell balls deep.
