My Firebolt is down for need of a rear shock. I saw an OEM shock at a price I was happy with but did not pull the trigger yet because I wonder if it's a wise purchase...

An OEM shock will have been sitting on a shelf for some time now - are there any issues with dried seals? Would I just potentially be buying a problem or short lived shock and should I consider an aftermarket shock instead?

Thanks in advance.

Depends on your budget.

Expect to pay $1k for a Penske, $750 for Works.

If your budget cannot afford that, ask if anyone has blown OEM, buy it, send it over to Race Tech to get a rebuild. That will probably cost you about $500 total.
