Just like I do, all the time, you outsmarted yerself Matthew! NBD. Hugh- heyull, I've ridden worse up on the Cherohala! When I still worked for SMHD, we had the bright idea for several years to do a New Year's Day run through Deal's Gap and the Cherohala... yeah, that was a slooooowww ride. Fun, but sketchy fo sho. Colder than dammit here in E TN- just looked at my bird bath/fountain, totally frozen over. I'd put a little 5/10 gallon fishtank heater in it a few months back, BARELY got any flow today. MAN am I ready for GlitchAnnie Badness!! | ||

This is the new ride, something very different for me. I was really looking for an all black Midnight version and almost missed this one. 2006 with 6,700 miles. I got out for a quick spin yesterday and I'm loving it more and more, but still getting used to forward controls...    I got saddlebags and brackets on Friday. Vance & Hines system and Powercommander should arrive this week and be all set for the 30th. I'm really looking forward to getting away for a few days. | ||

I have the Thursday through Tuesday off work, back at work Wednesday. My loose plans are the following, if anyone wants to tag along you're more than welcome. Thursday - Ride from DC to Brad's, big day. Friday - Head to Suches from Brad's, socialise. Saturday - A bit of riding, a bit of socialising, and of course eating  I'm happy to go with the flow, but catching up with friends is just as important as riding. Sunday - Lazy breakfast with y'all, and maybe a little riding. My plan is to head in the direction of the Dragon on Sunday afternoon. Monday - Ride the Dragon in the morning, I've never ridden it. Head in the direction of DC in the afternoon, staying away from the interstates. Find somewhere to stay when I don't feel like riding anymore. Tuesday - Head for DC, preferably not interstates. | ||

Very nice, buddy! Good move on V&H + a Power Commander, the only real silly thing about the bike is that fugly exhaust can! Double check your clearances for luggage and stuff on the right side- I've seen/smelled lots of melty stuff over the years when things are off... Take the time to really get a feel for the ergos- yes, it'll be a sea change from the Viffer. Maybe there's a Raider forum on the interwebz... seat/pegs/bars options should optimize the comfort for ya. (An Aussie with apehangers...?)  I don't remember the motor size- 1400cc? You'll dig that big, torquey lump fo sho! | ||

Graham- DO get a bit of time in on that new bike doing some twisty roads! Go ahead and determine the max lean angles, they're NOTHING like what you're wired for... just get a feel for the new steed. The Dragon will be the twistiest road you'll ever know. 318 curves, 11 miles. That said, you'll be fine- you're a very good rider. Heck, just having to stay in the LEFT lane back in AUS would make my brain hurt!  | ||

I'm trying to get on it as much as I can, weather looks good tomorrow. Having said that, I've never been a max lean kind of rider so I think I'll be fine, the Warrior has more clearance than most cruisers. It is long though, definitely a bike you need to keep on the throttle in turns or it wants to drop in. | ||

Yeah, I'd forgot to mention wheelbase. You'll have plenty of tire/tyre and enough of most everything, but the suspension is only adequate... As we age, we'll remember how we survived WFO on our Buells. Hopefully that'll keep us alive a bit longer. | ||

Well CRAP! My Uly puked it's drive belt! I should be upset, but given the circumstances I cannot be. I rode a nice little 43 mile round trip to town for work products today. Beautiful sunny 65 degree day. Uly ran oh so awesome, as usual. All was well until I stopped for the turn around on the divided highway in front of my place. Took off normally for the 100 yard down hill run back to my driveway(which is also down hill), and it revved up just a little, unusually like, in second gear just as I was returning to idle. Felt odd but did not even realize belt broke until I got my mail and returned to the bike. Fired it up and no go! I was going so slow when it broke it was still on the front and idler sprockets. So for some of you that probably seems unfair. It was dry, daylight, sunny, 65F, no wind, and down hill to my shop. It broke just feet from the entrance to my driveway. I did not even have to push it! Just turned and coasted in. But alas, I do not have a belt and next weekend is at hand! So I have got to find out, is part number G0500.1AKF actually in the "un-obtaineum" category??? I guess I will find out soon! | ||
