I never go to bars on my namesake's day. Pretty much stay off the road and veg. Feel free to celebrate the escaped slave who found faith and came back to the folk that kidnapped and enslaved him to spread the word. ( what? you thought St. Patrick was about snakes? It's a MUCH darker story, and much more heroic than green beer and cabbage. ) btw, the "traditional" foods served up today? That's an American Commercialization. Irish don't eat that crap usually. Like Cinco de Mayo, an ad campaign for Anheuser-Busch and Miller, that got overgrown.
