I noticed a picture posted in a discussion thread on another board today; it shows some of the interesting features of the short lived HD XR1200 Sportster engine: I remember seeing this when the XR came out and noticing a couple of very interesting details. The XR appears to use the updated oiling system of the 2008-up XB's, in which the oil pump is driven directly off the end of two of the cams instead of through 90 degree gearing as on other Sportsters and earlier Buells. The really unique thing on the XR though is oil cooling of the exhaust valve seats, something not done on the XB. I was just wondering if there was any intention of including this on future Buell models (post-2010)? Seems like it would have further increased the performance potential of the engine. Anybody have any inside info? |
