Falloutnl ”I do think it's funny how we can both look at the exact same video but get a totally different feeling. I see the most eloquent and funny mf'er ever to be in the White House. You see a race baiting good for nothing jerk off. " Is this stupid ? I didn't say this. We are products of the greatest generation to one degree or another, he is the product of the country that collaborated the most with Nazi's, that is why he See's one thing and we see another, it's his quote and his countries history, I don't blame him for it, it's just the facts. Is this stupid ? I didn't say it, so your statement is misdirected. We are the way we are because we had greater generations befor us teaching us values. This is in my view point, why he See's one thing and we see another. "Can't understand" Was the wrong term to use, should have been "doesn't see it, as we see it". To the rest of you that think I was too hard, the same way you got mad, is the same way you'll get glad. Don't shoot the messenger, I will never be accused of saying something Politically Correct, or bringing it up at a better time. Aesquire, talk about old and feeble, I'm old and have been laid up for 10 weeks, don't worry, you'll be running one way and, I'll be running the other but, my left arm works and can still lift a beer ! PWNZOR I am new here, compared to most, all I can say is, Don't get too comfortable, unless of course you own the forum. Would you rather me come on and act fake or, just put it out there ? I'll be one of the first people to help out if I can and, one of the last to keep his big mouth shut. Sifo, I love the moving day picture, I'm still laughing ! Sorry, I can't type too much, getting over a broken wrist. |

Running? Walking is my happy current best. I have begun walking down stairs sequentially, that is one foot down each step instead of sideways, which I've done for years in constant chronic pain. Life is good & my titanium knees set off metal detectors. Pugil sticks? Kiddie stuff. Six foot rattan poles with padded butt spike & tip. Or if you prefer I've got a rubber axe head on the one next to my armor stand in the living room. Makes a satisfying thump. My preferred style is sword & shield, but polearms and spears are fun too. Spears ( padded tip ) are Like playing pool. Without the table. And a nine foot cue stick. With people. I hang old tennis balls from the ceiling in the basement & poke them for accuracy & control practice. |

Sword and shield sounds great but can I use the thingy with the small stick handle connecting the chain to the metal ball with the spikes please, please, please, I'll be good, I promise ? Oh yeah, I was deadly with Pugil sticks in the service, but that was back in the late 60's, don't worry I'm much slower and weaker now. That's cool, you must have a nice little collection going. ...can I use the thingy with the small stick handle connecting the chain to the metal ball with the spikes please, please, please, I'll be good, I promise ? No, sorry. We banned that because it broke too many bones to be used in friendly competition. Historically, the Flail has a fun reputation. Flails and Morningstars ( the spiked ball on a handle ) were often used by clergy in combat since it was considered bad form to use a sword. Also, there was a blind King of Egypt that loved to go into battle with his flail. The troops would point him at a small concentration of enemy and race to cover him and keep up. He was infamous for killing his own horse in his enthusiasm, and IIRC perished when he did just that at the wrong moment. Just goes to show power doesn't equal good sense, and never has. Good luck to Barry's kids. I pray for them. It maybe should be a crime to take children into the White House as props. Even adult children of Presidents tend to have their lives ruined. Consider someone like Barry's kids, or Chelsea Clinton who had a Secret Service agent in the next room when they were trying to lose their virginity. Really wrecks the mood, don't you think. I won't even get into what it may do to a child to grow up with sycophantic servants & media around during the formative years. You are suppose to respect your parents for what they are, not what their worshippers say. |

Still, I have to give the blind king a lot of credit going into battle when all he would have to do was sit it out at the side, oh yeah, poor horse ! Myself, I'm into traditional archery, I have some old bows from the 60's and some a little newer. I live to shoot and ride though sadly, not at the same time. |

You should look up the local SCA chapter. SCA.org We are very much into traditional archery. No sights, releases, compound bows, etc. No one blinks at good old recurves. I know a fellow who loves his "american flat bow", and have tried the asymmetric Japanese "zen" bows and horse bows. Lots of fun. We also have "combat archery". You armor up just like the rattan fighters, but use 35lb. ( cheap ) fiberglass recurve bows, or small, light crossbows, with bird blunts. At the "Gulf Wars" events in Mississippi, I've been on the receiving end of mass volleys that, no kidding, dimmed the sunlight. ( not "300" in scope... but dang! ) We do have strict safety standards, like the spacing on the eye slots on helmets, and not all battles have archery. But the ones that do also allow siege weapons, like catapults, ( tossing a tetrahedron of tennis balls wrapped in duct tape ) and ballistas, ( throwing tennis ball tipped spears over a hundred yards. ) famed for use by Rome. ( see the opening battles from the movie "Gladiator". The Goth being picked up and pinned to a tree scene is historically and physically accurate, although usually you just get a Goth-ka-bob as the bolt pierces several bodies at once ) Not saying it's pleasant to be hit by a simulated rock, but it's far more fun than turning into the smear left behind by the full scale real thing. Which brings us back to the topic... how much you will enjoy the howling as the climate changes with the Old Guy leaving. I just saw "my" Senator complain that his Party needs to be more purely Progressive. For those not paying attention, Chuck Schumer, D, NY, is calling for better Communist Ideological Purity to win back the peasants. I admit Chuck does a great job at getting federal funding for projects in his state. If he wasn't a dedicated anti civil rights type who ignores those who don't bribe him, I might even respect him. So, I don't. |

One of my friends in traditional archery went to one of those gatherings, he said some of you really beat the crap out of each other. We just shoot 3D archery, you know make believe animals, and knock a block, different size foam blocks that are stuck on wood posts using Velcro, then we make fun of each other for missing or bust each other's chop's while each of us are shooting, it's all in fun. I come upstate NY for a shoot two or three times a year, one is around Hunter mtn, one is not far from Windham mtn, and the last is not far from Binghamton. |

I keep meaning to buy the 3d Raptor target & put it in my yard to see if the deer react. Beat the dickens out of each other? Well, it's full contact. I admit top level tournaments can get a bit rough. I've had some technicolor bruises. I've done the volunteer first aid for these things for 20 plus years and mostly had to deal with heat problems, ( armor in July... and the fencers are almost worse, covered head to toe in the equiv. of 2 layers of denim ) and alcohol poisoning. ( not an official competition. Really. Although we do have brewing competitions ) I've witnessed one broken arm, a few spectacular dislocations, and scratches. I've seen far worse mountain biking. |

Patrick, the SCA guys I hung out with beat the crap out of me with a foam covered flail. It wasn't a sanctioned event though. No weapon should be allowed to attack your back-side from the front-side (why did they even give me that shield?). That's just not polite. I was sore for a couple days after that. |

Ah, yes the wrap ( around ) shot. You do learn to block that one. Flails are dangerous because they tent to wrap around the wrist, etc. They also tend to hit you in the backside. You are allowed to experiment with some off beat weapons. It's an educational group, after all, and some of the techniques of sword fighting ( for example ) have no surviving references. German "half sword" and Rapier, have the textbooks going back to the beginning. Fighting in Roman lorica segmentata with short sword & spear? The Army manuals seem to have gone missing over the millenia. There are tricks, subtleties, to the different forms, and reasons why they developed. They worked. The SCA fencers are top notch, and the action much more free form than Olympic fencing, which has you dance back & forth on a linear, narrow, mat with cords out your butt, hanging from an overhead doggie run cable. Unfortunately the quest for accurate scoring ( electric ) IMHO ruins the dance of the fencers and focuses on the frontal attack. Scoring by honor system ( you do usually feel when poked ) means you can circle, use cloak & other soft "targets" to block with, etc. ( I know guys that use a Barney Plush or other hideous monster toy ) There was a time when Klingon Bat'leths were popular, in rattan, & fencing, just for giggles and the challenge of figuring out the proper moves with an imaginary weapon with no actual history to learn from. Aside from shouting insults in Klingon, the consensus was that it was a poor weapon. Pretty much anything from a martial arts dojo is a better choice... except maybe for flails. ( like Nunchaku ) Pretty much all the fantasy game weapons are semi useless. Or impossible to build for real. An energy blade naginata would be lovely. ( Japanese "sword on a stick" often considered a "women's" weapon because the wives of the Samurai were highly trained with them, expected to defend the home against armored troops. And win. Oh and the Samurai Women had battle fans. Never underestimate a Battle Fan. Seriously. ) |

As you can tell, I've learned to over analyze the martial arts. I'm blessed with the chance to talk to some of the more bad a$$ warriors & martial artists about the philosophy, physiology, and psychology of the arts. Looked at from a modern Olympic or NASA training perspective, it's sports medicine and psychology. Visualization, and practice to muscle memory. Programming response patterns into muscle memory and giving the mind the menu choices. This shortcuts the need to actively think about what your body is doing, and telling it so manually. You just pull up a menu option and execute it. Human programming. From the "zen aspects" of the various Martial Arts arts you learn technique AND the psychology of focus, the higher level programming to allow menu driven battle, and important perceptual enhancements. From Modern Military techniques... specifically the teachings of John Boyd and the "OODA Loop", we get that intelligent movement avoiding patterns and thinking inside your opponents decision process is the key to victory. Energy maneuvering for fighter planes has analogies in personal motion. https://web.archive.org/web/20150227144648/http:// www.ejectejecteject.com/archives/000172.html You look at all the "science" factors and you see that the winner in conflicts from World Wars to gladiatorial duels, follow similar paths... It's by no means the final study of the art of conflict. It is fascinating to live in a time where all the different disciplines have come together and to have this synthesists perspective. There's a REASON the modern American soldier is as deadly in combat as he is. Part of it is a common cultural heritage of video games and simulations, part is intentional training. |

Yes, muscle memory, most people do and don't even know it, example- riding a bicycle, it's very important for Trad archery as one's brain cannot do two things at once. If you don't have the form down it's very difficult to think about one's form and aim the arrow, which is done subconsciously when shooting instinctively, kind of like, throwing a ball. Even if a person is not shooting instinctively but rather actually consciously aiming the arrow, they still have to have the form down. Very important for any of the fighting sports but, natural talent also makes a big difference. Sounds like you got very deep into it. Yeah, O's legacy, how sad but, not surprising! |

There is an argument that throwing rocks & human brain processing power are related. Other species throw stuff, but none as well. As accurately and as far per pound. Most other physical attributes of man are poor compared to our fellow primates. Chimps can beat us for weightlifting. The other aspect we rule on IIRC is endurance jogging. Man is a cursorial hunter. We pick out a deer from the herd ( pattern recognition and tracking ) & just run it down. We get close, deer runs away much faster than we can. Then stops. Man keeps running. Close up, deer flees, repeat. Each time the deer gets more tired and the man gets closer as the trigger to run gets over stimulation. Eventually man gets close enough to throw a spear. This technique is noted as a probable reason for our heat regulation systems and other traits. As you can see the cause and effect parts of this theory is reverse engineering. " why sweaty pits? Lubrication for running all day. Why hairless? Better heat dispersion. Etc." |

I'm still waiting for 0 to hold a press conference and say that he had no knowledge that Trump is now president, until he heard it from fake Russian news. If we like our president we should have been able to keep him. The riots and burnt limos were workplace violence. The future president must not slander the prophet of islam. Hillary heard it from Chelsea who was jogging around the national mall when the planes struck... wait wrong lie. She landed in DC to attend the inauguration under sniper fire... no that's not it either. The inauguration was a vast right wing conspiracy. She was "dead broke" when she attended the inauguration. |
