So, I just found out that something like 100% of Google's political contributions go to Democrats. I been trying to ...And have gotten close to being Google savy and was going to use it exclusively for email ...But I guess the whiney bitchy liberal dushbags I see boycotting at every whim is rubbing off on me so I want find an alternative to Gmail... Yahoo? Live? Hotmail?? ..I am just thinking about it at this point.

Hotmail is Microsoft, and they are MSNBC.

For secure/private search capability, I've read numerous positive endorsements for DuckDuckGo, but I've not used them so can't personally vouch for their system.

https://duckduckgo.com/

I've used Startpage for years; it uses Google as the search engine, but does so anonymously on your behalf.

Interesting reading:

quote:

How the Yahoo hack impacts you, even if you don’t have a Yahoo account (and how to get safe again)

Like millions of other people, you likely just recently found out that 1 BILLION (that’s BILLION with a “B”) Yahoo accounts were breached in 2013. Stolen user data reportedly includes names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth and passwords.

COOL! Now I'm VERY happy to be completely absorbed by Google! Good to see good news here every now and then.

Yeah, but I hear it's pretty fowl.

Someone I know is chicken it out, though.

We have Yahoo mail and every time I get done and logout it sends me to a news page and you can guess how pro obama and anti bush/trump it has been. I think all of silicon valley is left.
Hell its the SF Bay area. What should I expect? Would be nice if there was someplace I could support with my dollars that was at least balanced.

I agree. Guess I'm a racist or bigot or some kind of whatever-phobe for even thinking it. Thanks for links! Will try them.

mail.com, no idea what their political affiliations might be. You can buy email service from networksolutions.com or get a host and have your own site and email account.

Right. My own dotcom. But.. I could never get the features that Google have, I'm starting to use Google keep slot. Like a notepad for text, voice-to-text, pictures, audio and video and sharing. Good for site visits and work collaboration. I don't think there is any other alternative for that kind of communication.

Xfinity had a way to share photos and video with other Xfinity users but that's changed to some crappy x1 photo app. Just thought

Just be aware that any google product you use is monitored and scraped by google in order to provide you with more targeted ads. Your information is their information. Use at your own risk.

There is some rumblings in the school systems about using the chromebooks because the are nothing more than a data collection device, and the data they collect can be very personal in nature which violates several laws concerning minors. In some cases google is also violating HIPPA acts because medical data is showing up in some of the online docs.

Depending on how or where you host your own site, you can have access to some pretty good free alternatives to what google offers. It takes a little more work, but isn't your privacy worth it?

I don't give Google any money, so I don't really care who they support.

As for them harvesting my data, I don't care about that either.

My life is pretty much a matter of public record, I lay it all out there which is something many of you can attest to.

Progressive Insurance, on the other hand... they have great rates and service, but that's one of Soros' money machines... so I don't use them for anything.

Progressive is actually kind of pissing me off, maybe this will push me to switch. The rate on my old Harley is way too high.

"I don't give Google any money, so I don't really care who they support."

Actually, if you use anything they produce (even for free) you ARE supporting them and giving them money since they sell any and all information they have on you.

Read "Who Owns the Future" by Jaron Lanier for a very enlightening perspective into who make money off of YOUR data.
