Sifo, I thought that dress code went away once Wandell left... WTF do I know, though? 1313 P.S. If that isn't an excellent segue for someone with Photoshop skillz, I don't know what is... |

"LOL at HD turning their backs on their own riders to support a bunch if whiney babies." I don't imagine trump rides a Harley. |

You obviously missed my point. Trump's voters for the most part were middle class and working class white people. Who, for the most part, rides Harleys? It certainly isn't the cry babies that are rioting everywhere. |

Macbuell +1. Harley will loose sales because of this. Polaris, if they were smart would offer to host the EO signing. With a brand new Indian Chief sitting in the back ground, and flanked by Indian Scouts. |

Something is wierd about this whole story. http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/31/politics/donald-trum p-milwaukee-harley-davidson/index.html?Sr=twtsr013 1harleydavidson I don't know if CNN rewrote this article over time or not. I could see CNN making it up to try and undermine trump, and I could see Harley actually doing it. I don't have a lot of trust in either the blaze or CNN. But that doesn't mean the story is wrong. |

I want HD to do well. I want them to continue to make motorcycles here in America, and continue to employ Americans. But damn if they have a way of shooting themselves in the foot, and spitting on their own customers. I'm a ways away from buying a new bike, but if I was in position to do so, I don't know what I'd do. I would want to buy American. I would also want an adventure touror. It sucks that I would have to settle for less than what I want, in order to buy something mostly manufactured in the USA... |

Something still doesn't add up about that story. The statements from both HD and the White House don't seem to line up with the unattributed CNN story. |

HDMC is behaving like a coward. So disappointing. I know that HDMC corporate (NOT the Americans who build Harleys, NOT the Americans ((for the most part)) who build the parts that go into Harleys, NOT the Americans who truck Harleys to dealerships throughout this nation, NOT the Americans who sell Harleys in America, not the Americans who service Harleys in America, and NOT the Americans who ride Harleys in America) is BadWeb's mortal enemy. With that: Have ANY of you done any research into the "protests" that were being planned around President Trump's visit? I put "protest" in quotes for what should be obvious reasons. I did a minimal amount of scrounging around on the 'net regarding "protests" being fomented around this event, and it gets frightening pretty damn quick. And, although I didn't find (so, obviously, can't provide any citations for) any planned "protests" at individual H-D dealerships in concert with Trump's visit, you'd have to be living in a news-proof cave these days to think that wasn't likely to happen, as well. So, what to do? Well, hate H-D corporate all you want (is Wandell even still there?), they're a publically-owned company, with a zillion dealerships nationwide, and the folks at the helm aren't actually stupid, they surely watch the news, and they are surely aware of: 1) the "protests" of all things Trump going on around the nation; 2) the level of violence and outright lunacy that accompanies these "protests," and: 3) the obvious risk, not only PR-wise, but the actual physical risk - to structures AND to people - of having the President of the United States of America pay them a visit. Consider the scope of the "protests" going on around the nation. Do a little research and see who's funding these "protests." Imagine you're the CEO of a MAJOR corporation here in America - seeing and recognizing the potential for not only possible bad PR (fomented, in large part, by the mainstream media and their masters), but also the real risk for widespread injuries (or worse) - and what would YOU do? And it doesn't stretch one's imagination to imagine this potential violence spreading to Harley-Davidson-related concerns OUTSIDE America, either. And if you can't wrap your head around all this, well then, stick your head back in your news-proof cave and slip back into your stupor. Yeah, this whole thing sucks HARD. And, pray tell, who's REALLY at fault here? Harley? |

Good points, all. However (and this is only said partially in jest)...all they need to do is call the "bikers for Trump" who were on the Mall for the inauguration and for the pussy march the next day... Part-jesting aside, I think it sends a message to the DNC that we don't need to send. That message being "yes, your protests are affecting us and affecting this country". It puts all their crap into the "win" column, which sucks even more. |

It puts all their crap into the "win" column, which sucks even more. ^ I agree. It's easy for folks to bash Harley for this decision because, in this case, the risk - 100% of it - is on Harley (and their employees and stakeholders) and 0% on anyone who has bashed them on this thread. H-D management took at look at current events in our country, and decided (I assume) that they were between a big rock and a dangerous hard place. Me? Heck yeah, I want 'em to shout to the bad guys a loud, proud "FU!" That's a potentially deadly decision, however, given the nature of the ongoing "protests." And, as appealing as it sounds on the surface to meet fire with fire (by, for example, calling in the Bikers for Trump), it'd be an extremely poor decision for several very key reasons. We're at war, obviously. P45 has done a remarkable job - in just two weeks! - of beginning the swamp-draining process, and the rats (which includes many in the FedGov) are rioting in response; it's one of many signs of how desperate they are. As in any war, one has to choose their battles carefully. I hate that it's so but IMO, based on current conditions on the battlefield, Harley-Davidson made the right decision. |

H-D executives to meet with Trump http://www.jsonline.com/story/money/2017/02/01/har ley-executives-meet-trump/97359308/ The article states:
quote:Earlier, it was speculated that Harley-Davidson canceled a visit that Trump planned for Thursday at the company's Menomonee Falls manufacturing plant. That was not the case, said Harley spokeswoman Maripat Blankenheim.
So, did the Blaze (i.e., Glenn Beck, a notorious anti-Trumper ((and, IMO, a few cards short of a full deck))) and CNN deliberately get the facts on this meeting wrong? And, if so: Why? |
