Sifo how was that data extrapolated? .... 3 out of 100 said yes??? Within a couple days there will be some background information but by then every conservative will be quoting this single possible study... is this the same 2008 study noted below?

If we get the money squared away we have 3 years to figure out fair statistics, but I will not use GDP, this is about working class people not corporations.

I agree GDP is the wrong figure. There are others, some, like U-6 unemployment, would need, not a reversal, but a notable slowdown in growth to be considered a success. ( while that may sound wrong, the previous guy claimed huge victory for slowing how much he spent. While that annoyed me, It may be valid )

Middle class income would be a good one. It's been going down, going up is obviously a win for the New Guy.

However, getting the money "squared away" before deciding on what the bet exactly is, is bogus, backwards, and possibly fraudulent. At least it's easy to cheat, so... No.

Settle the terms, settle the ways to win, THEN deal with amounts and means of payout.

Doing it the other way around is improper on many levels.

Besides... if Madonna, blows up the White House, the bet won't matter. ( insert extreme sarcasm face )

I can't get past the paywall, but I'm hearing this is yuge news. From the Wall Street Journal:

A GOP Regulatory Game Changer
Legal experts say that Congress can overrule Obama regulations going back to 2009.

By Kimberley A. Strassel, Jan. 26, 2017 7:48 p.m. ET

Todd Gaziano on Wednesday stepped into a meeting of free-market attorneys, think tankers and Republican congressional staff to unveil a big idea. By the time he stepped out, he had reset Washington’s regulatory battle lines.

These days Mr. Gaziano is a senior fellow in constitutional law at the Pacific Legal Foundation. But in 1996 he was counsel to then-Republican Rep. David McIntosh. He was...

I thought of a "metric of success" for this, for any administration.

Hours flight time per month ( training ) U.S. armed forces. Air Force, Navy, Marines,& Coast Guard.

The secret to success and safety in flying is practice. You practice landing, precision flying, switchology, & recovery from unusual attitudes. Or you lack the skill to safely do the job.

It's been years since I last flew Instruments in blackout conditions. I feel confident that I can keep the bird in the air, even now, but have doubts I could do a properly precision job under air traffic control while using an unfamiliar radio setup.

If that sounds weird, consider how many yards at 70 mph you would travel, head down, texting your anticipated arrival time on an unfamiliar flip phone. ( no touch screen )

Now add a dimension, double the speed, & you need to make precision turns as told on the radio, to avoid 737's, when you can't see outside. At all.

So training time for fighters, tankers, etc is a vital metric for national success.

I'm on an oil-burner route here in SW VA. Over the past eight years the overflights have dwindled to near zero. Used to get A6's of some variant ALL the time, some FA-somethings, and lots of Ospreys (you can hear them thump-thumping from miles away; the jets warp by so fast and low, half the time I don't even see them).

It's interesting you mention this particular metric, because I fully expect my near-daily air shows to resume under President Trump.

Second Amendment
View Mr. Trump's position, here.

- Defend the Second Amendment of our Constitution. The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed upon. Period.

- Nominate United States Supreme Court justices that will abide by the rule of law and the Constitution of the United States that includes upholding the Second Amendment.

- Enforce the laws on the books. We need to get serious about prosecuting violent criminals.

- Expand and bring back programs like Project Exile and get gang members and drug dealers off the street. When we do, crime will go down and our cities and communities will be safer places to live.

- Empower law-abiding gun owners to defend themselves. Law enforcement does a tremendous job, but they can’t be everywhere all of the time.

- Fix our broken mental health system. All of the tragic mass murders that occurred in the past several years have something in common – there were red flags that were ignored. We can’t allow that to continue. We must expand treatment programs, and reform the laws to make it easier to take preventive action to save innocent lives. Most people with mental health problems are not violent, but just need help, and these reforms will help everyone.

- Defend the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

- Military bases and recruiting centers - to have a strong military, we need to allow them to defend themselves.

- National right to carry – should be legal in all 50 states

- Background checks - we need to fix the system we have and make it work as intended. What we don’t need to do is expand a broken system.

- Gun and magazine bans - the government has no business dictating what types of firearms good, honest people are allowed to own.

I'd love to write the core of the "common sense" gun control legislation. ( lawyers would have to translate it )

Basically I'd roll back the regs to 1934 & make them min-max. No more stringent laws allowed.

In what might be horrifying to pure libertarians, I'd keep the tax on machine guns and make the vetting process slightly more difficult. Otoh I'd dump the restrictions on new guns & almost all import bans. ( there was a stash of pretty fresh Garand rifles in S. Korea that Barry the Weasel wouldn't let get into the NRA marksmanship program )

Federal concealed carry law would be simple & will issue. Felons would have to sue to recover their rights but cost & process would be "cheap or "free""

There's a handful of other laws I'd keep from over a century of racist would be aristocracy oppression.

Of course the simple declaration of intent.

"The Right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed and this time we mean it."

I appreciate the whole "rule of law" theory, I think it's awesome that someone finally gets the fact that nobody respects the laws, nor the law enforcement personnel, and they're finally going to do something about it. But I hope he doesn't lose sight of the statement he made above:

Law enforcement does a tremendous job, but they can’t be everywhere all of the time.

Another Promise Fulfilled – President Trump’s Temporary Halt on Refugee Influx and Seven Nation Visa Suspension
By Sundance, 01/28/2017

In yesterday’s executive action (full script not yet released) President Trump suspended the visa travel program with Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen for 90 days in order to assess the screening process for immigrants, and visitors.

Additionally, as reported by Reuters, President Trump put a four-month hold on the State Department refugee program, while the vetting process is reviewed and security practices put into place to enhance the screening process.

The reaction from the left-wing open-border globalists was entirely predictable. However, even though their response was predictable, it is still incredible to see the complete lack of cogent understanding within their arguments. This quote from CAIR is a case study in abject moonbattery:

quote:

(Reuters) [...] The order seeks to prioritize refugees fleeing religious persecution, a move Trump separately said was aimed at helping Christians in Syria. That led some legal experts to question whether the order was constitutional.

One group said it would announce a court challenge on Monday. The Council on American-Islamic Relations [CAIR] said the order targets Muslims because of their faith, contravening the U.S. Constitutional right to freedom of religion.

“President Trump has cloaked what is a discriminatory ban against nationals of Muslim countries under the banner of national security,” said Greg Chen of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. (more)

Seriously? This is not the first time we’ve heard and seen this absolutely insane argument in the media. The United States Constitution ONLY covers American citizens, and lawful resident aliens. FULL-STOP.

The U.S. Constitution is not a global document protecting the rights of Iranians, Iraqis, Libyans, Somalians, Sudanese, Syrians and Yemeni nationals. This legal narrative is complete nonsense, yet it shows how years of global liberalism have completely diminished even the most basic structural concepts of law, rights and privilege.

The fact that Reuters would even publish such a ridiculous proposition, reflects how far down this road of Brangelina Peacenik ‘we-are-the-world’ moonbattery we have traveled.

Not only is it not a global document...but it CERTAINLY doesn't cover the rights of those who seek to destroy us and our way of life.

And until (if) we come up with a reliable way to identify those peoples and threats...(key word there being "reliable")...me, my family, my property and my safety are entirely in the "err on the side of caution" camp!

"Global open borders" is a great idea and maybe by the time we get to the age of Starfleet, no money required, and no politics involved...it might work. Now? Not everyone has the same rules. Not everyone has the same beliefs. Not everyone has the same respect for human life. So...not everyone gets to go everywhere.

If you want to kill me...you don't get to come into my house.

If I *think* you want to kill me...you're going to have to do a damned good job proving me wrong, before I let you in my house. And once you get here...my house, my rules.

It's actually pretty simple.

Tucker Carlson Discusses Trump Refugee Executive Order With Advocate Kevin Appleby
By Sundance, 01/27/2017

Kevin Appleby is a well-known pro-refugee advocate from The Center for Migration Studies, essentially an advocate and lobbying group for the business end of refugee resettlement.

Most CTH [Conservative Treehouse] readers are familiar with Baptist Child and Family Services (BCFS) and/or Catholic Charities; both groups gain hundreds of millions of taxpayer funds for their various refugee programs. “Hundreds of millions”. This is big business.

Tucker challenges Appleby on his expressed narrative, and by doing the well-designed questioning approach – well, Appleby’s argument just collapsed. Watch:
