I have no doubt the photo being circulated was taken at a different time than the swearing in.

That's not my issue. It's the way Spicer came out attacking and acting like a jerk.

Take the high road man! Stop feeding the trolls and act like an adult. OWN the moment and others will come around. IMO there was a better way to handle the controversy, and a much better way to start the new administrations contact with the media. No need to act that way.

I couldn't disagree more strongly. The MSM has gotten away with so much, that they now feel free to flat out lie to those who they are supposed to inform. It's good to come out on day one and let them know there's a new sheriff in town. This is an issue that is easy for people to understand and compare the truth to what they have been told. It's a perfect example of a much bigger problem.

The MSM got caught lying.

Simple

Spicer needs to confine himself to being the Press Secretary and avoid "playing in the minor" leagues. The MSM is going, slowly and surly, the way of the steering column mounted spark advance lever that were always told would "always need to be there".

In addition, as we unravel the residual bullshit from 8 years of having amateurs at the wheel . . . he's going to have his hands full.

Wisco and Sifo (and others),

Before you do your manly wager thing, please donate $5/month for Badweb maintenance and operations. If you have already done so, thank you. If you haven't, then why are you wagging your tongue here? There are "free" places abounding on the internet. However, there are few places you can call home like you can Badweb, on the net. Everyone is welcome here, especially Wisco.

"Spicer needs to confine himself to being the Press Secretary and avoid "playing in the minor" leagues. The MSM is going, slowly and surly, the way of the steering column mounted spark advance lever that were always told would "always need to be there". "

My issue Sifo, was not necessarily the message, rather the delivery.

Spicer could have called them on it without coming off as an A-hole. Hell I am glad the media is being put on the hot seat. I have no love for them at all.

It would be bad to get into a habit of coming off that way. If it's a one time (or very seldom when necessary) thing, just to put liars in their place, I don't have a problem with it. It will surely shake people up and make them take notice. I think that was needed. Will it actually do any good? I have my doubts. I really don't think it will hurt any as a one time thing. Typical Trump theatrics. He was the man who got elected when he had no path to victory. Did it on a limited budget too. Don't underestimate his tactics.

I'm still not sure I'm going to like him. He just signed another batch of Executive Orders. It's very similar to BO, only with an agenda that is more to my liking. I do understand that BO set the table this way. In that regard, I'm willing to see where this goes. We are so far off track some initial shake up is necessary. If we get four years of this, it's going to be problematic.

Sure won't get any from the anti-Trump press, & I don't expect too much from the former game show host.

I'll give them a week or so.... and after you've been lied about, blatantly, with death threats, I wouldn't cut the propaganda arm of the DNC any slack. You lie, I call you on it.

In the end the folk who aren't fans won't like the attitude. Those who are applaud it.

As some of you know . . . I had my own history with The First Lady that sort of made national news.

My impression was that she was an EXCELLENT public speaker and a powerful communicator. I simply had some problems with the things she said and some of the way she had done things, starting with that little pay raise she got when working in the hospital.

Here's an article I found in an old e-mail. I know neither the source or how it got sent to me.

But . . it kind of describes a few of my concerns about her. I'm glad, since she struggles so damn hard to be proud of America, that she is out of The White House.

A person's pride in their Nation should not be a needle that swings to and fro based on how much free shit you are getting at the moment.

this country that has given me so much," she said. "See, that's why I

left a job at a big law firm for a career in public service," Michelle

No, Michele Obama does not get paid to serve as the First Lady and she

doesn't perform any official duties. But this hasn't deterred her from

hiring an unprecedented number of staffers to cater to her every whim

and to satisfy her every request in the midst of the Great Recession.

Just think Mary Lincoln was taken to task for purchasing china for the

White House during the Civil War. And Mamie Eisenhower had to shell

out the salary for her personal secretary.

How things have changed! If you're one of the tens of millions of

Americans facing certain destitution, earning less than subsistence

wages stocking the shelves at Wal-Mart or serving up McDonald

cheeseburgers, prepare to scream and then come to realize that the

benefit package for these servants of Miz Michelle are the same as

members of the national security and defense departments and the bill

for these assorted lackeys is paid by John Q. Public:

There has never been anyone in the White House at any time that has

created such an army of staffers whose sole duties are the

facilitation of the First Lady's social life. One wonders why she

needs so much help, at taxpayer expense, when even Hillary, only had

three; Jackie Kennedy one; Laura Bush one; and prior to Mamie

Eisenhower social help came from the President's own pocket.

Union Leaders Praise President Trump After Meeting – Cheer for Removal of TPP
By Sundance, 01/23/2017

The America-First winning is exponential. Union leadership met today with a pro-jobs, pro-growth, pro-USA president. Leadership from construction/manufacturing, pipe fitters, steel workers and industrial machinist unions met today with President Trump and exit the meeting with incredible praise for the respect he showed them.

Pause. Let that sink in. Union Leadership praising a Republican President. It’s a new day folks, and President Trump is the leading edge of a tectonic political realignment.

Notice the Transparently Absent – It’s Who Was Not at The White House That Also Tells a Story
By Sundance, 01/24/2017

Yesterday President Trump held a day of meetings with corporate business titans, CEO’s, and also skilled labor union officials. However, two men were transparently absent from both group meetings: U.S. CoC President Tom Donohue, and AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka.

The reasoning for their absence is more sunlight upon the UniParty swamp. Insofar as politics in DC is a false choice assembly of two political parties sharing the same goals and ideology, the uniparty, so too are Donohue and Trumka two sides of the same coin.

The GOPe wing of the UniParty is funded by Tom Donohue and his crony capitalistic U.S. Chamber of Commerce lobbying group. The DEM wing of the UniParty is funded by Richard Trumka and his consorts in the SEIU and AFSCME.

Both Donohue and Trumka are operational agents and groundskeepers for the Swamp. It’s an open secret never discussed by media; however, in the era of Trump their transparent absence speaks loudly.

That's because we've elected him and are paying him...

TO WORK.

Not only that but to work FOR US.

Both are concepts that he has a firm grasp of.

Watching his chat with the ceo's I was hit with the thought "yep...this is what the man does". Simple things like scheduling regular meets: "...let's say, quarterly. 'Monthly' sounds good but then things get repetitive and that's not productive. You start to think 'I *have* to go to that thing...' and it just doesn't work. "

Candid, and realistic. Screw the posturing...let's just get shit done!!

I tried to do some digging today, and had trouble getting to a key fact.

What is the control to prevent somebody who is NOT a citizen but who has a residence to just register to vote, then vote? It looks like most states will let you self identify with just a utility bill and an address.

Is there active truing and prosecution of these registrations with citizenship verification?

All the rebuttals I found to say "fraud can't happen" were all around correlating votes with registered voters (and even those defenses were a bit weak).

I didn't see what the controls were around fraudulent registrations.

I have had, in the last 2 years, the experience of both getting a driver's license and registering to vote.

I had to make 3 trips between home and DMV to produce enough "points" to get my driver's license. I had a TSA I.D, TWIC card, Homeland Security, Global Entry, my FAA pilot's license and my USMC Discharge photo ID.

When I went to register to vote . . . I simply mailed in my name and address and got a voter registration.

I **think** (I do not know) that you have to have quite a bit of ID to get any public services such as medicare, social security, unemployment, welfare and so forth.

It appears, at it's best, to be a pretty screwed up system and that it would be really easy to vote as often as you'd like.

In my own case . . . I'd have had no problem (having addresses in both states) to vote in NY and NJ. My driver's license is NJ, my car registrations are . . 1 in NJ and 1 in NY and my bills come about 1/2 and 1/2 to NJ and NY.

I didn't see what the controls were around fraudulent registrations.

The dems are crying foul and suggest that Voter ID is "racist" . . and disproportionately impact low income folks as a result of their lack of funds to get to the DMV . . yet mutter not a word when folks have to produce all the ID and appear in person to get services.

It . . . on a good day . . is confusing . . on it's best day . . screwed up.

One citizen . . . one vote.

Seems simple

EDIT: Corrected a stupid error. Thank you for noting it.

>>>As usual, your logic is flawed.

It's no so much flawed and simply ill informed and not terribly bright.

Mitt Romney did not make his fortune "out "saucing" jobs to China". Romney had, and has, a sterling reputation as a business leader and turn around guy.

China has bought a LOT of American business and companies. I have 2 brilliant students in my class this semester who are here from China. Last semester I had an executive from CCA (China Construction in America), a firm doing many very large (over $1,000,000,000) projects in the area. The Chinese, like so many other countries (this semester I have 2 students from China, 2 students from Lebanon and 2 from India, 1 from Honduras, 1 from Portugal) send their best and brightest to America for schooling.

Trade is a bilateral undertaking. It's based on relative advantages of disparate countries and economies. If you are close to Salt . . .you mind Salt and trade with folks who are in an area that mines Coal. Countries and people can do better trading than they can alone.

For a better understanding . . . I'd suggest either Chapter 8 of the classic Hubbard and O'Brian "Comparative Advantage and the Gains from International Trade" or Chapter 42 of the McConnell 5th Ed. "International Trade and The Economics of Free Trade". Reading, even just these basics, will keep you from sounding like you are talking out your ass.

What Trump is trying to do . . we'll see how it works . . is to simply start re-leveling the field and making rules fair. China, as an example, needs to be prevented from screwing with their currency. Some of you recall that the legislation that, arguably, saved Harley-Davidson was in response to Japanese "Dumping" . . .selling products at below cost to gain control of a market.

One thing is clear . . . actually 2 things.

What has been happening is unfair and unsustainable. Watching American families in poverty just to keep from having to stand up for fair trade.

And . . Obama lacked the personal fortitude, he was a pussy, to put his foot down. Instead . . he liked to draw "red lines" and then retreat when the bold and brave arrived.

We, collectively, will all get to see how it works over the next several years.

President Trump Signs Executive Order Reviving Keystone Pipeline
By Sundance, 01/24/2017

Earlier today President Donald Trump signed an executive action to revive the Keystone XL pipeline, signaling his inclination to approve the project. In 2015 President 0bama rejected the pipeline, which would connect the Alberta oil sands to existing pipelines in Nebraska.

Tuesday’s actions will not force the approval of either project, and Trump said he wanted to renegotiate terms with the pipelines’ developers. Those terms may include some way for the United States government to get a financial return from Keystone, a possibility he mentioned on the campaign trail.

The new president briefly described each action before putting his pen to paper, and then held each action in front of the cameras.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBEjCvT2I7s

“This is with regard to the construction of the Keystone pipeline, a subject that’s been in dispute, and it’s subject to a renegotiation of terms by us,” Trump said. “We are going to renegotiate some of the terms, and, if they’d like, we’ll see if we can get that pipeline built.

“A lot of jobs, 28,000 jobs. Great construction jobs,” Trump added.

Trump signed a total of five actions on Tuesday, all of which are designed to either move forward with pipeline projects or help U.S. manufacturing.

The memo on Keystone asks developer TransCanada Corp. to submit a new application to build the Canada-to-Texas pipeline across the United States border.

It then asks the State Department to review the application within 60 days, at which point Trump would consider whether to give it the final approval under existing policies.

The Dakota Access memo asks that the Army Corps of Engineers review and approve the project “in an expedited manner,” including the final easement that developer Energy Transfer Partners needs to build under Lake Oahe in North Dakota.

Besides the actions moving forward with permitting for Keystone and Dakota Access, Trump signed a memo asking the Commerce Department to lay out a plan for all pipelines in the country to use materials produced in the United States.

He also signed actions to expedite permitting for manufacturing projects and to expedite environmental reviews for infrastructure projects. (read more)
