Hey! A motorcycle you need no skill to ride! If you wear ATGATT, and ride one of these, you'll be able to totally miss the motorcycling experience! What a great way to get motorcycles off the road.
Why would you want to put on all the gear and get on a bike that doesn't require anything from you, when you can climb into a car that's more comfortable and also drives itself? That way you could spend the whole ride texting your buddies without distractions!
Cool technology. I guess they had to have an "increase trail" mechanism to get enough leverage to make it reliable for anticipated side forces... or more likely anticipated side forces for the demo video.
But really cool.
One of the kids got a self balancing scooter for Christmas. They are really need, and look very "natural" in terms of looking like it just a smooth and natural human means of locomotion. With a rider, the whole setup moves just like your brain expects an animal to move, but in a really new way. It looks like we are supposed to move that way.
Interesting accomplishment teaching a motorcycle to do a track stand. I'm not sure it would do anything for you above about 5 mph. I have seen 2 wheel vehicles with gyros to keep them stable. They hit one at low speed with a car and it slid sideways, but stayed upright. Pretty incredible.
Here's my take, on a slightly different vehicle. I just replaced my 2x4 GMC Sonoma with a 4x4 Silverado. The Sonoma just sucked in the snow, unless it had 400 pounds of weight in the back. The new truck is great in the snow. The new truck is also has the full "nanny" package. Traction control, dynamic stability control, automatic 4WD. I've gone from sliding around all the time to almost not being able to slide at all without actually trying to loose control. It's great for commuting, and safety, but not nearly as fun. I even put it in 2WD and turned off the traction control. It's still hard to slide because the DCS kicks in as soon as you start to slide. You can spin the wheels, but it won't slide sideways. Actually pretty impressive. So today I tried it in 4WD low, where it turns off ALL the nanny software. Yep... FUN!
