Since I've never has an EBR engine apart, I'm just curious. Does the 1190 have a cassette transmission? While I strongly suspect it does, I don't know. |

Well; I found a parts manual online and to my surprise, if something in the tranny messes up, you have to split the cases to fix it. While I understand that it saves in manufacturing costs, I still don't like it. Oh, well; I hope the gearbox in my Black Lightning works flawlessly and requires no repair for the entire time I own the bike. |

Can you play this backward to see how to split the cases? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQPKYnM3jfI |

Nice video. Unfortunately, the transmission is the first thing that goes into the cases. That means that it would be the last to come out if there were a problem. Oh well. That won't stop me from buying one; it won't even slow me down. But I still wish it had a cassette gearbox. My Roadster doesn't have a trap door and neither does a Suzuki SV. I bet there are many other V twin engines designed similarly. Just my personal preference. |

Even the XB family didn't have a trap door. Well...except the XBRR... |

None of my Suzuki or Yamaha bikes had quick change transmissions. It's a more costly & heavier way to make motorcycles. Barely worth it on race bikes and just a waste on street machines. Nice to have, on my ancient Cyclone, I admit. How much lighter would the Sportster power plant be with integrated transmission & gear drive Primary? No need to calculate. See Honda etc. |

Honda CBR1000RR, 04-07 had a cassette trans...they dropped it to save costs, as CDs and USB drives became more popular...Happy New Year! |
