A bit over a year ago I posted this thread ( http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/770989.html?1443624166 ) about my Brother's nephew who had been diagnosed with cancer. Sadly, he passed in his sleep last night. They had just started hospice care for him a few days earlier.

I, and Zanes family were really touched by the good folks of BadWeb. I just wanted to give you all a last thank you, and let you know the final resolution. We all have our day, but Zane's was far too early. Tough day for the family of a good man.

So sorry to hear. Not that any time would have been better but right before Christmas must really be hard for all involved.

Every day I am reminded that I have so much to be thankful for...

Zane and his family are in my thoughts

Funny, this morning (on the way to counseling) I was just thinking about how badweb is the best community I have ever been a part of. I met wolf at Riders Edge. Court sent me PDFs of a repair procedure on my first Buell. Froggy has always been awesome, online (badweb/forza and off) The WV Buell Rally was a great trip for me, and dad (who visited his childhood friend during the rally), who passed away less than a month later.

We may bitch about political differences, but a love of an unusual motorcycle has brought us together in an unbelievably supportive, unconventional 'famaily'.

I have met Wolf, Froggy and many others. The support network we have is what keeps me coming back, though my most recent Buell was sold nearly three years ago.

I'm looking for another one...

I had recently thought of Zane when I was posting about my cousin's cancer situation in another thread.

I'm very sorry to hear of his passing, please pass the condolences of the Anthony clan along to his family.

James 1:2-4

2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Sifo, I totally missed the fund-raising thread you started for Zane and his family last year - I think I was just basically offline altogether for awhile. How are they doing in this ($) regard?

Our condolences to you, and to Zane's wife and family. Cancer SUCKS.

Matt, I hope your cousin sees a better outcome. I think it's likely. Zane's cancer was never really identified and they never got it under control. As I understand it, cancer cells were in his GI tract but the never identified the tumor that was producing them. He never seemed to respond to the chemotherapy.

Ferris, thanks for asking about the fundraising. It is still active if you wish to contribute. https://www.gofundme.com/gz4n6png#

His wife Kim will certainly have her hands full. 4 young kids to raise. Just before all of this started, Zane started building a new house on their land to replace the trailer they are living in. He and his dad literally built it with help from other family and friends. I think Zane saw the house as his legacy to his family as things began to turn bad. There's still some interior work to be done before they can get an occupancy permit. He was sleeping in the house when he passed though. They had a good sized gathering of their family there the night before he passed too.

Thank you all again for the prayers for his family. They are certainly facing some difficult times.

Hey Tom- my condolences, friend. Prayers up for Zane's family...

Keep us posted as to how they fare over the holidays, and if we can help in any way- let's hear about that occupancy permit sooner rather than later. Is it feasible for early in the new year?

PM me their snail mail, please.

Zane was laid to rest today. The church was packed, and put out all the folding chairs they had for overflow, and still left with people standing. It would seem that he impacted many people in his life in a positive way. I thought I would share his obituary here...

quote:

Zane Kessler Barnes, 34, of Empire passed away Monday, December 19, 2016. He was at his newly completed home, proudly built by his hands, surrounded by his loving family.
Zane was 100% American, born on the 4th of July in 1982 to his parents Reuben Perry and Becky Jean (Fouts) Barnes. He married Kimberlee Marie Kunisch on June 17, 2006 at Ranch Rudolph. Their family grew to include 4 amazing children, guided in faith as members of St. Philip Neri of Empire.
A TC West Senior High graduate of 2001, Zane competed in several sports, holding the discus record there for many years. His passion was football, going on to play the two-inaugural seasons for the TC Wolves semi-professional football team. After more than a decade in construction, he joined the Elmer’s Team. There he continued to gain respect for his unsurpassable work ethic, maintaining his nickname, “Zane the Crane”. They took notice. When the Elmer’s family learned of his illness, they drew his family close, helping his sisters orchestrate an overflowing fundraiser and urging him to begin building their dream home immediately. Their love and support are a true testament to their faith and commitment to their employees and our community. With their help, Zane, Zane’s dad and countless friends and family completed their home with precious time left to spend in it surrounded constantly and lovingly by family, friends, and continuing involvement of his coworkers.
For Zane, fall was filled with football and hunting. He spent quality time watching the Lions, U of M Wolverines ( and more ; ) ) and hunting, often with his sons and older daughter. He also loved camping, 3 hour tours, golfing, fishing, and stacking hay. But above all, spending time with his wife and children. He loved taking part in his kids’ activities, passing along his passions and skills. His deep commitment and love for his family will live on forever.
Surviving Zane are his wife Kimberlee of 10 years; children Zachary, Kyler, Karlize and Zebrina; parents Reuben and Becky Barnes; siblings Cassandra (Dan) Szerszenski, Brenda (Bob) Culbertson, Amanda (Eric) Yaple; father and mother in law Chuck and Ellen Kunisch; sister and brother in laws Tracii (Josh) Kunisch-Chandler, Beth (Keith) Fritz, Charlie (Tracy) Kunisch, Jim (Carrie) Kunisch; his beloved German Shepherds and countless other loving family members, friends, and coworkers.
Zane’s family would like to extend their gratitude for all the support throughout this journey. Every thought, prayer, and numerous other gestures of love has not gone unnoticed.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 22 from 4-8pm with a Scripture Service at 7pm at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Empire. Mass will be held on Friday, December 23, 2016 at 11am with a visitation beginning at 10am also at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Kindly share thoughts and memories with Zane’s family at www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com. The family is being cared for by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.

The construction company that he worked for brought in a crane and a huge flag to fly at the church. It was well lit with spot lights last night for the visitation service too.

Zane lived a great life in 34 years. Thanks again for the prayers for his family.
