I was just looking at the 10 day forecast on Intellicast, and I thought I'd share it with you all. (Misery does love company, you know) On Sunday, December 11, at 3:00 PM the temperature will fall below the freezing mark and will not get much above that right through the end of the forecast. (It's supposed to get all the way up to 37° on Wednesday) On Monday, December 12, there is a 100% chance of snow Accumulations will be between 8 to 12 inches. On Tuesday, December 13, there will be snow showers but with less than an inch of accumulation. On Wednesday, we get ice pellets. I guess it's time to post this again:

What a difference a few hours make. Now, the forecast for Monday is 1 - 3 inches of ice pellets, clear on Tuesday and more ice pellets on Wednesday. High temperatures are supposed to be in the balmy mid 30s. Starting Thursday, the high temps drop into the mid 20s. My coffee cup is still right. |

I drove down to Birmingham Alabama this week to drop off a carburetor with Bobby Wood. I checked out a couple of brewery's that night. It was in the 50's and I just had on a T-shirt, felt pretty good! The Bama boys were all in sweatshirts! So I drove up to Cape Girardeau in Southwest Missouri. The next morning it was 27 degress. As I drove North to St. Louis the temperature never changed, it was still 27 when I got home. Needless to say, I had to put a jacket over my short sleeves! 19 degrees this morning! OK, Winter's here and it does SUCK! |

Snow is the main reason I don't live in Colorado any more. Love to play in it, but the rest of the time it sucks. Where I live now, We have been snowed on a total of 3 times in 20 years. Only one time did it last on the ground more than an hour or so (and killed my lime tree). |

Greg! PLEASE tell me you stopped in Leeds AL and hit the Barber museum! Yeppers- getting dang cold here too. SO glad I got that insulation job done on Wednesday... went out and put an aquarium heater in the birdbath yesterday. All my local feathered friends have really been using it lately, plus (BIG plus) we've seen a nice sized flock of bluebirds hanging out in the yard. Need to put some Sta-Bil in the BMW, plus the yard equipment... |

Well I didn't hit the Museum because I didn't have enough time but it's on my list, trust me! I did meet one of the tour guides at a brewery and he told me a lot of good info. Need to go with my good camera and a couple of days! |

OMG. Whilst my two buddies had ventured down a bit further (been before), I stood transfixed by the Britten. Unbelievable bike, a piece of art meant to be ridden in anger, a world-beater from one man's mind. Hopefully they'll add some of Michael Czsys' works in the near future... I caught up to them, they'd been talking a while with George Barber. DANG it. Still, a singular experience for me, or any motorhead. DO take your camera, and days, if you can. I understand they have an archive section that you can access, with advance reservation. We spent from 10am opening, to about 330pm, and I felt I barely covered it all. Gotta get back there for a Vintage Days event. Surely next year- we should coordinate efforts. Maybe I could soup up the Beemer to make a day out on the track... |

Here, today, it finally got above freezing, for a few minutes, anyway. It's been below zero for 3 nights in a row. |

Went to the snow tires a bit early.... but planned it a bit late, spent 5 hours in the tire shop, with an advance reservation. And my tires ( purchased from that shop ) in the back of the minivan. They told me they had a couple guys call in sick and at one point there were no empty seats in the waiting room. Yep, everyone needs snow tires.... after it snows. teens here this weekend, probably over freezing around 1pm tomorrow. For years, the first good snow covering the parking lots at the malls, I go practice skids & recovery. I used to practice until I could drive at a 45 deg angle under full control both directions, but that's in a rear wheel drive van. FWD, that's a bit tougher. I keep in practice all winter. At night when the stores are closed, of course. You lose points for hitting a lightpole. I also run studs. Noisy, annoying, and by spring I'm very very happy to change back to summer tires. Worth every bit of annoyance. I even run studs on my bicycle. ( note to self, pick up fresh tires from local non-chain bike shop. ) I buy local to keep local open. If you live in warmer climes, well, good for you.

No- just kinda drooled at it, and put my fingers on it briefly. Walk up to it, stare, read the plaque, stare some more, do it again. For 5 stories, start at the top. The thing about Barber Motorsports Museum is you're gonna want to be there from open to close. It will take you at least from 10am to 330 pm to at least spend an average of less than 10 minutes, staring at one after another magnificent bike. At any time, what you'll see is about 1/3 of their collection from what I've heard. He also has several vintage Lotus racers as you walk in, and a complete machine shop with CNC capability. For F# sake I'll be there next year's Vintage Days, camping. First 2017 resolution!! All I have to do is one turn out of my neighborhood, one turn back- a day's ride on 411 to Leeds AL and a day back. |

Torquehd Posted on Saturday, December 10, 2016 86129squid, did you take any pics of the Britten? There is one on display in the Solvang Motorcycle Museum. http://www.motosolvang.com http://www.motosolvang.com/bike_pages/1995_Briiten _V1000.htm Last time I was there you could get close enough to the bikes to sniff the exhaust pipes. Also, the town of Solvang is wife/girl friend friendly. |

Just had a lovely drive stuck behind plows and the idiots that tailgate clumped up behind them. On the expressway. For forty minutes. Hung back a hundred yards and cruise control at 27 mph. To match. Low blood pressure, zero angst, plenty of schadenfreude. While folk passed me and joined the semi frantic cluster of sudden brake lights with not enough room for a bike between them. I played Rush & enjoyed the show. What maroons. |

Presto. Then Buffy the musical. I deliberately made a......random mp3 mix disc & had the Nero software mix it by unknown means.... so I'd shock myself awake. After Buffy I have Flash Gordon. (Queen). Totally by accident the first tune is "Stairway to heaven" next is "warrior" by Disturbed. That'll wake you up. |

Last time I was there you could get close enough to the bikes to sniff the exhaust pipes. Also, the town of Solvang is wife/girl friend friendly. If you go there during the day, and the museum is closed, go upstairs to the property management office and they will usually open the museum up for the regular price of admission... which, IIRC is around $5 each. My ex and I were allowed to walk around in there for about an hour and drool over the bikes. |

Pwnzor is correct about seeking the property manager to gain entrance. However, we paid $10 a piece, that was about 4 years ago. Still a great deal, especially if the manager is there. The manager, I forget her name, that let us into the museum. Not only knew nearly everything about the bikes on the floor. She shared many personal anecdotes, in regard to the museum, bikes and collection owner. |

$10 is a bargain to get up close and personal with such an array of rare motorcycles. |

10 f. And dropping. 3 separate heating systems in the house all going full blast. I love the "air hurts my face" cartoon. I live it. Al Gore lied to me. He promised no more cold. Scum. |
