They have a motorcycle. Some would say they're three percent of the way there |

Nate- I think you're right about that site being mostly BS. Vanguard's site had a link to this article with better info: http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/first-look-vangu ard-roadster-prototype-motorcycle The exhaust is clearly not in the tail: They probably need to talk to Erik about the need for ample airbox volume on a V-twin though. |

Do you think they would actually listen to anything Erik would say. |

Interesting design exercise ..... When they get a well developed ..... constructible and marketable ..... design .... they will be about 3% of the way he o a "motorcycle company". |

"the need for ample airbox volume on a V-twin though." I don't think their goal is to create a well-performing motorcycle. It's too heavy, it's lopsided, and the kickstand is in between the footpeg and the shifter toe peg. And they don't need as much clamping area for the forks as they've used. Unnecessary weight for the sake of looking cool, which runs counter to their stated philosophy of everything being there for a mechanical/engineering reason. The little windows showing the U-joints in the drive line are similarly not needed. I wish them success, but they need to be realistic about their product. It looks cool, and that's the whole of its purpose. |

http://www.motorcycledaily.com/2016/12/vanguard-mo torcycles-new-american-brand-debuts-this-weekend-i n-new-york/ Meh. Too TRON for me. OTOH, I do like those S&S motors- the X-Wedge looks like a great design from what I've gathered. Now- my new Cycle World has a cover and brief review of the new Ducati Scrambler, the "Desert Sled"... picture inside of a dude getting some serious air on that bike! I'd hate to pay for services, but DANG if I don't have a chub for that one... |

So what is the tubular thing in the trunk? A billet croquet mallet? |

Been thinking about that. 1. Hard bag mount. 2. Umbrella storage. 3. The entire assembly rotates and hold up the seat so you can check your fuses. 4. Billet Croquet mallet, obviously. 5. A kaleidoscope to entertain drivers on each side of you. 6. Rear stand mount point for tire changes. 7. TBD. |

From the article at MotorcycleDaily.com: Vanguard was founded by two individuals previously associated with Confederate Motorcycles, including Confederate’s chief designer for six years, Edward Jacobs. The other founder is “serial entrepreneur” Francois-Xavier Terny. |

FWIW, more drivel on the Vanguard, this time from Hemmings. I'd rock a Confederate, but the Vanguard - nope! 1313 |
