Yes, a bit. I know they arent worth crap any longer. mid 80s and later were so mass produced that they saturated the market. I have about 10k from when I was a kid, most one is worth is about 5 bucks, most are pennies. Even complete sets are only a 10 or 20 spot. Shame. I could have bought more Buells with them lol |

I know nothing about trading cards, but- it'd be worth finding an expert to evaluate them. I posted up a while back about my weird chair, given to me by my buddy- he was gonna throw it in the lake. I finally got it evaluated, and then added to a professional antique/collectible auction this past July- dang if I didn't clear $600 for that "boat anchor"! Dunno if there are any interwebz resources... good luck to your buddy. |

For baseball cards the standard was always Becketts price guide. I'll be honest, dont waste your money buying one of them, it'll be 7 bucks wasted. Dont mean to be a Negative Nancy, but it sucks, they just didnt hold their value at all |

I don't know them. Quick search brought this; Here's 5 of the most valuable cards around: Eddie Plank, 1909 — $188,000. Shoeless Joe Jackson, 1910 — $199,750. Ty Cobb, 1911 — $273,000. Mickey Mantle, 1952 — $282,000. Honus Wagner, 1909 — $2.8 million. It will be time consuming searching every card. Lot of near worthless cards on E-bay. |

marvel's Secret Wars #8, the origin of Venom, $200.... Possibly the most valuable comic I own... Never in a million years would anyone give me that much. Most aren't worth face value. As an Investment, cards, comics, "collectibles" all are a bust. Even Gold in bars varies a lot by time, and in Gold, George Soros took advantage of stupid high prices and sold IIRC 7 tons of his stash. Both made a tidy profit ( more than the GDP of many countries ) and crashed the Gold market prices in one go. On Purpose. If China wants to crash a commodity, like Gold or "rare earths" they can do it at will. Just dump a buncha tons on the market. Pretty much the only "sure" investments are actually rare stuff. Famous artist's stuff. Automatic weapons. ( In America, a fixed quantity after the jackass Bush the Elder signed an anti-gun bill.... so the price can ONLY go up ) Bribing a politician with some years left on his term. ( Obama is only going to get "here's a bribe to pardon so and so" and stuff he can slide under the radar, now. Not like a year ago when he was a great investment ) Of course, I could be cynical. I'm right, but cynical. Serious advice. Have the baseball cards appraised at a MINIMUM of 2 card shops, and be aware that card shops will not pay "retail value" since they wouldn't make a profit if they did. Then you can either take the discounted price at a dealer or sell on E-bay where the suckers shop. One's a sure thing the other will take more time and is not. Your choice. |

I'm not looking to buy, just help a buddy clear some stuff out. He's finding a lot of the same stuff - overproduction in the 80s/90s, time-consuming to go through them and itemize...figured if there was a badwebber who was fluent in them I could ask my buddy if he'd want to send 'em out and have someone do the legwork for a % (if they were worth anything). He's buried-busy with the divorce proceedings, just trying to help clear his plate a bit was all. |
