I don't know if any of you know Wayne & Vicky Orwig,Wayne is the GA rep for the MGNOC and head of our local Guzzi group.He and Vicky were on their Guzzi EV Sunday riding through Morganton,GA when a driver made a u-turn right in front of them in full view of a deputy in a marked car.Wayne has a broken arm and broken hip while Vicky has seven broken ribs and a break in either a leg or hip and is in a coma. They are two of the best people I know and a large part of the reason I keep my Guzzi.They are always ready to help anyone that needs it and never ask for anything in return. I went to see Wayne today in his new rehab room.We went to the gym for physical therapy where they had him working his arms.His sense of humor came through when he said he was doing his beer curls.He was worried about Vicky having not had an update on her condition today.I ran into Guzzi Steve in the parking lot who said the doctor believes Vicky hears what people in the room say and is responding to stimulation.This will be a long road for them and they can use all the help and support we can give them. | ||

I know how they feel though, I was a bit luckier than they. My prayers are with them both for a speedy recovery. Hopefully they have insurance for their everyday bills. It really does suck ! In my state I can send my bills to the idiots insurance company, either way they're going to have to pay. The cops should be able to take their license on the spot and put them in jail, then when they make bail they should have to pay the bikers bills before their own untill they are well then, talk about restitution. As soon as I am able to, I'm putting strobe lights on my bikes, I don't care what the law says ! Even though the cagers will still probably say," oh, I didn't see the motorcycle " Yes, I have no sympathy for idiots ! | ||

Right now I can only offer prayers. Looks like Wayne will be fine soon enough. Vicky, I know how she feels. Being able to hear people, and not be able to say anything is really really hard. Comas are a different animal to anything I've ever encountered. Any word on how they think she'll fair after everything is said and done? | ||

I don't think there speculating on the future yet.What I heard was they are waiting on the swelling in her brain to go down.Wayne said there was a mark on the roof of the offenders car where Vicky's helmet hit it. | ||

They will then more than likely keep her in the coma while the brain heals itself. That's what they did with me, and it did wonders. No pain at all after I woke up, I was thankful for that after seeing what they did to my head. Coming out is like an out of body experience along with no memory of what happened and some nightmarish feelings as well. I did not go nor come back without giving them a run for their money. I heard stories from the staff, that just couldn't believe. I hope she responds well. As a fellow traveler of the unknown, I have optimism. | ||

Vicky never came out of the coma and sadly passed away last night.She was a special lady and I will miss her greatly. | ||
