Fact, fiction, whatever the hell you want to call it, it's still helping another human being who needs some support. Why do we still tolerate this idiots posts?? |

Thanks for voting. I think out military can figure out what a Secret Santa is all about. I know that one of my nephews that served in Afghanistan has not readjusted as well as his brother. It's only been in the last year that he's opened up and told a couple of experiences he had over there. He definitely saw some stuff that was hard to digest. He's still far better off than many though. God bless our vets! |

When you have to fight because your economy depends on your country using and selling weaponry. Someone should speak out. America and Americans are brainwashed with bullshit. Santa Clause. Imaginary wars with Russia and anyone else that disagrees. You can't tell right from wrong. Goodbye polite people. All the rest, don't forget to lie to your children. |

3.5 % of GDP. Our nation doesn't depend on defense spending to keep the economy afloat. Took me about 30 seconds to find that. You should try degrading us with accurate information. It's probably much more satisfying. |

I have mixed feelings about veterans' programs. As an active duty guy, I sure appreciate the sacrifice made by all who have served, and I appreciate programs that benefit folks who have (especially voluntarily) laid their lives down for their countrymen and have been fortunate enough to pick them back up again. God knows I have taken advantage of similar programs. The other side of me is offended that there are people who believe that I, as a veteran, am likely to need a handout; that I'm somehow less equipped to make it on my own than the average American. (when I say "offended", I mean that it doesn't sit right with me and I reflect introspectively on it. I don't mean that I start crying, disrespecting other people for what they believe, vandalizing businesses, or generally being a douche bag). I know there are some vets who do need a handout, and some of them are legitimately victims of serving their country. I don't have the answer to the vetting process that should occur to see who really needs help and who just wants free chicken. In my experience, the general consensus among combat arms soldiers, is that most service members who legitimately have a crippling level of PTSD are the caliber of folk who would not willingly admit it. I've known guys whose behavior indicates that they need some kind of help, but they were totally unapproachable on the subject. I also have known people who have claimed PTSD symptoms and yet, from all appearances, go on to live normal lives (except for that bonus check they get every month). All that to say, I appreciate these programs (recognizing the difference between grassroots and federal programs). I just wonder how much they get abused, and what can be done to improve their efficacy. I wish I was smart enough to have the answer. |
