By Phil Anderson phil.anderson@cjonline.com Police were investigating a report of four 13-year-old youths who said they were chased by a knife-wielding “creepy” clown before dawn Tuesday on their way to a school bus stop in East Topeka.
The incident was reported shortly before 6:45 a.m. in the Deer Creek Village apartment complex in the 2400 block of S.E. Colonial Drive, just south and east of Highland Park High School. The mother of one of the youths said her daughter and three other girls -- who walk together to the school bus stop each morning -- said they saw a person with a mask and red-and-black outfit crouching outside an apartment building in the complex.
I used to live in Topeka, KS which holds the distinction as one of the highest crime cities in the United States. I was there for a high school reunion a couple weeks ago and was amazed at how much of the town looks like Paterson, NJ or Compton, CA. now that most the industry and large firms like the Menninger Foundation have packed up and left.
