OK, there are times when I have to share something truly great: Motorcycle Relief Project. Just read the article in MCN- a fellow by the name of Tom Larson founded this 501(c)3 organization to help our Veterans suffering from PTSD, depression, and such by taking them on a series of great rides in Colorado. During the time they are participating, they also are fed like royalty, housed like same, and allowed some good therapy and such to help them get out of their various "holes" that poison their psyche.

Very moving. Check it out:

MCN also has a review of a nice new helmet, patented with noise-cancelling technology- Quiet Ride Helmets.

Thought I'd share- that is all.

...just watched the three testimonials.

Donation sent.

At age 20 I became medically ineligible for military service- heck, with nearsightedness, asthma, flat feet, and whatever else since I was a boy, I doubt I'd have made it at any rate.
My dad was Air Force, Korea. All my life I've dearly appreciated what our men and women in uniform do, on my behalf, and for all of us US of A citizens.

To all my BW friends that are currently active or retired in the services, thank you.

Not trying to take away from your post, but just FYI - that "flat feet" thing is an urban legend. My flat clown feet have logged hundreds of miles under a ruck, hundreds in kit, and hundreds more in running shoes.

I like this (from the site)
"Ok, we understand that this might be a little uncomfortable for some of you. We know that you might not always be able to accept it when someone thanks you for your service, or that you don't always feel worthy of someone's gratitude or admiration just because you wore the uniform. We get that. But we also recognize that serving in the military is hard work. In difficult circumstances. With high demands and intense pressure. And for many of you, serving came at a great personal cost. So no matter how you may feel about your motives for serving or what you did or didn't do while you were over there, the fact remains that you served. And that alone is enough for us to want to serve you back."

one of the more honest and sincere thank-you's that I've ever heard.

Update:

Join us December 3 for the first annual Motorcycle Relief Project fundraiser which will be held in the beautiful showroom at Performance Cycle of Colorado in Denver. Motorcycle Relief Project is a 501c3 nonprofit that takes veterans with PTSD and other invisible injuries on 5-day therapeutic adventure bike retreats.

Not only will you be supporting a great cause, you'll also have the chance to see some rare and historic motorcycles on display including a Ducati TT1 factory race bike and an original unrestored 1917 Indian. Plus you'll get to meet special guests like Carl Reese, world record-holder for fastest motorcycle ride from LA to NYC; Erin Sills, 19-time land speed record-holder including 219.3 mph on a BMW S1000RR; and Deena Mastracci, world record-holder for longest motorcycle ride by a new licensee (11,000 miles in 30 days starting from the DMV parking lot). Most importantly, you'll get to hear from several of the veterans who've been through our program about how it impacted them.

There will be dozens of great auction items available to bid on, including one-week beach vacations in Hawaii and Belize; a classic original 1991 BMW R100GS Paris/Dakar; a 5-day self-guided adventure bike tour and rental from Colorado Motorcycle Adventures; and an off-road skills class, bike rental and off-road tour from RawHyde Adventures. If you have any goods or services you'd like to donate to the auction to help fund our work to support veterans, please let us know.

Tickets are $20 each or you can sponsor a table for 10 for $200. Get your tickets today at

Cool, that's a Saturday.
I'll be sure to be there, most likely on the Uly but maybe I'll ride the Carbon RS.

Awww, cmon! Given that there will be some SERIOUSLY kewl bikes there, take the RS!

One favor- try to take a bunch of pics! I had some brief correspondence with Mr. Larson a while back when I started the thread- he mentioned that sometime in the future he may try to get some events done in my part of the country. Sounds like it'll be a heck of a good time.

Have fun, my friend.
