First, spoilers are inevitable, but let us try hard to avoid them.
For instance I am like 70 deaths behind in Game Of Thrones.
There are many good shows in the history of TV, and far more that just fill time.
I'm fond of Big Bang Theory, Dr. Who, and the old Top Gear. I respect fans of every show.... unless it's....Oh, well, taste is taste.
I'll start with one of those guilty pleasures that in a way illustrates what a "Fan" is. Someone who can, and will, share his or her joy at an activity or art. The word "Enthusiasm" is most used to explain...
So.. Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
7 seasons, a spin off, and a kajillion quotable quotes. Some can't stand Josh Weadon's work, and I'll not argue too hard... taste is taste.
Still, this metaphor laden right of passage/growing up show is a classic case of creating characters we fall in love with and then making them grow, usually by putting them through hell. In this series, that is taken literally.
This Fan takes the show seriously as art and gets into philosophical and literary tropes fairly deeply. For a great rant on Existentialism, see around minute 4:00 in this one.
Breaking Bad, for sure. I started out totally in the tank for Walter White, because the show started immediately after my brother had died of lung cancer. It took me a REALLY long time to grow to hate Heisenberg, as the plot demanded of the audience. Once that connection was broken, I still had to watch the inevitable path to destruction. So, yes, Breaking Bad was a very addictive and guilty pleasure.
No, we/she named him Rocky, which fits fine. He IS a Butthead though.
I could watch, for indefinite periods of time, South Park/Simpsons/Family Guy/American Dad/Robot Chicken... loves me some craziness like all that. Old TV like the Munsters, Addams Family, ALL of the Loony Tunes/Merry Melodies, yadda yadda.
I remember as a kid when the networks CENSORED all the impacts when Daffy Duck/Wiley Coyote/Sylvester would fall or get blown up... PISSED me off. I think Tipper Gore had something to do with that.
Liked the original. Hokey in spots but that was the era of Green Acres.
Wanted the flying motorcycles in the '80 show, but didn't care about the characters so didn't actually watch it....
The 2003 version was awesome.
Case in point. The "Adama Maneuver" is dropping a city block? sized ship out of warp 100,000 feet over a town, punching out all it's fighters, and jumping back out before impact. ( fan sites argue about the "actual" size of the Galactica )
Again, Characters you get to love & hate. People who grow & fail. Also explosions.
I was a late convert to "Lost" and watched it religiously while it was on. I don't think I watched an episode until half-way through the first season. I caught up quickly and watched every episode after that. It created such a cool, intricate mythology, the producers promised they'd tie it all together, and then they tacked on that complete turd of an ending and didn't explain squat. I don't think I've re-watched a single episode since then.
Currently I really like "the Strain". It's a zombie/vampire/world apocalypse story. I like the combination of providing an apparent scientific biological explanation for the plague, while also playing up supernatural elements.

Just remembered- Today's late nite talk show hosts are good- Fallon and Colbert seem to have settled into their chairs nicely. BUT- no one can replace Carson or Letterman. I used to love the nutty things Letterman would figure to do...
AND- Conan O' Brien was a whole 'nother flavor of insane. His last few shows were unbelievable. But I really, really miss Craig Ferguson. Of all the TS hosts, he was really my favorite. Might have to binge-watch some later tonite if I can remember to.

The original Battlestar Galactica for me. I didn't even know they made another series. I remember saving tons of proof of purchases off of cereal boxes to send in and get a cardboard fold out of the dash of the Colonial Viper fighter. I spent alot of time behind that thing all summer killing Ceylons.

Watch the 2003 Battlestar Galactica mini series. Then when you're hooked...... there's the full series, Razor, & Caprica.
Babylon 5 was great. I wasn't a fan until it changed networks. The new network played two ? years from the old network daily, weekdays @7pm. I taped them & a buddy who's a fan & I binge watched till they caught up & resumed the series. Beer & wings & space combat & politics & .......
Strong, funny female characters like Susan Ivanova, & Lyta Alexander made the show. The idea of a five year story perplexed the network guys. "What do you mean it ends? Oh, you've got a spinoff planned?".....

Btw, the Galactica original series leather Colonial fighter pilot jackets are a serious collector item now.
And they were decent jackets. Yes, you could buy new ones in your size. Wish I'd bought one but it wouldn't fit me now.
If Fox wasn't run by morons Firefly Brown Coat sales would be a major profit for them.
How the hell a cancelled series where they showed 11 out of 14 episodes, out of sequence, got backing for a feature film is a miracle. True, not a blockbuster, though it deserved to be, but profitable. Serenity rocked.
And sometime you just don't get involved or you lose the suspension of disbelief.
Never was a Seinfeld fan. Just didn't like the characters. I'll even agree with you if you insist it had some great aspect, I've seen a few shows, and it was funny.
I was a major MASH fan... then just lost interest. Did catch the last episode which was blamed for a "tidal wave" in the NYC sewer. All those toilets flushing at once after the show.
Angel, the Buffy spinoff left me bored by the last season too. Pretty much missed it & didn't care.
Game of Thrones is one I've been saving to binge watch. Getting a new knee installed in a few months and plan to be iced & pedaling the stationary bike in front of the tv. Don't worry about spoiling it for me, by the time I catch up it's all going to be "guy/gal whose name I forgot gets horribly slaughtered" and it all blends together.
I just assume if I like the character they're toast.
Btw, George RR Martin insists he's not as bad as Shakespeare.
I use the cable service here only for internet access, NOT for boob-tube usage... so we use our digital antenna for the basics, then Amazon/Netflix/Hulu, etc.
For a while, every time I'd come home from work there would be an episode of Quantum Leap on. Then I Love Lucy (yeesh, got tired of that.)
PBS' "Create" channel has several shows we enjoy- Cook's Country Test Kitchen, Lidia Bastianich, A Moveable Feast (awesome!), Nick Stellino (what a charmer- his cookbook might still be available online for free)... lots of fun stuff with food and travel.
Question: Where in the heck can I find All In The Family?!?! I miss me some Archie. Also, Sanford and Son.

KTLA CH 5 in L.A. they are on sub channel 5.2 Antenna TV
Anything by Gene Roddenberry. I've been a Star Trek fan since the 60's and loved the Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and all the movies. Once you learned the characters it was more like a soap opera!
