At the risk of sounding nerdy, I loved Firefly and Defiance. Big Bang Theory is another that keeps me coming back.
For the love of all things Holy, don't go revisit the shows you loved 20 years ago. I tried Knight Rider, Air Wolf, etc. They were pretty rough and tainted it for me.
One of my best friends is a black man with a beard. I'm a white man with a beard. I often own a van.
On CHIPS a "salt & pepper team in a van" was the most called in suspicious activity on the show. If they had beards the chase scene was automatic.
On one hand this made sense. Hard to stuff a big tv in a Beetle. Otoh, a generation of laymen grew up with ME the prime source of conflict programmed by that show.
I suspect the show's writers & directors simply had a pile of vans on the lot to use in chase scenes. Often the bad guys had a Ford that tranmogrified into a Dodge when they jumped it. ( because the I Beam front suspension on the Fords would tear out & hurt stunt men & the Dodge could be reused )
There is an old episode of Magnum PI on either Netflix or Amazon (forget which). I watched it, and it was pretty fun, just to see them beating up with a rock dinged Ferrari if nothing else.
Most of the fun was picturing how much fun they probably had off set filming in Hawaii in the early 80's. Those that survived it probably have some great memories (and some even more amazing things they wish they could remember).
The Avengers series is pretty good, not deep, but fun. Top Gear of course is great when you are in the mood.
Head 2 Head is another good gear head series. Get over the "Top Gear Knockoff" idea (which applies, but not that much, it's more a common ancestor kind of thing), and it is really well done on it's own and done in nice little 20 minute windows. It's technically deeper than Top Gear usually is.
Dark Matter was another reasonably entertaining one that didn't get much attention. Again, nothing magic, but a nice way to relax with a beer when you aren't tired enough for bed yet.
That is one of the problems of this kind of thread.
What's really jarring, is when you binge watch/read a series and catch up and now have to wait a week...month...year for the next episode or book. The sudden psychic stop is profound. ( or just annoying )
Cowboy Bebop. Anime with a great sound track. A description would be silly. "bounty hunters in Space?" Come on.
Really it's good. A lot of this stuff is super cheesy when summed up.
Describe Dr. Who.
Low budget British Sci-fi time traveler.. series is older than most of the planet.
Speaking of time travel. Quantum Leap. Looks like 3 new ones coming
No cable or satellite here for a few years now——this thread rocks! Netflix and Hulu feed my hunger. Wife has an Amazon Prime account but its video streaming interface is shit.
I've been a closet fan of subbed anime since high school, and I've never watched Bebop all the way through. I guess its time.
I found an obscure show a few weeks ago on Netflix out of New Zeland called The Almighty Johnsons about a family of brothers who turn out to be modern day Gods incarnate. It's a drama comedy, definitely a silly plot to find the incarnate of the goddess Frig, but it's reasonable well acted for what it's supposed to be. I got good laughs throughout, but heads up that it has that Nickelodeon soap opera type feeling to it at times, my guess because of the film and filming techniques they used.
I'm waiting for the next season of Attack on Titan.

We were talking about shows at work the other day, someone mentioned "Space Ghost". That one got good and silly, good fun. Dig me some "Futurama" as well...
Jeepin'- there are some comic actors IIRC from NZ or AUS who've been doing stuff like that, kinda forgot names, but, they did a movie in the past year or 2 that was released widely- "What We Do In The Shadows".

If into anime, even a little bit. Death Note is damn good. They are making it a live action movie with Willem Dafoe as the shinigami from the anime...
If into a more serious anime, not superheroes, unbelievable stuff, Silver Spoon is great. The basic premise is a kid who doesn't like living at home goes to an agricultural high school to get away.

Metalocalypse, YEAH! Sad to say I've never had the chance to watch much Squidbillies, but I do love The Unknown Hinson. Got to hang out with him and his crew last time they played here at The Shed. HELLUVA live show, one of the tightest 3-piece bands EVAAAR.

New show. "The Good Place" Girl finds herself in The Good Place by mistake. You get there determined by a complex calculation of everything you did in life. Only the really high scorers go to The Good Place.
