I think the whole "white privilege" thing is just progressives trying to re-spin "discrimination against African Americans".

If you don't discriminate, you have no reason to feel guilty. But if someone can convince you that you have a "privilege" just because you're white (i.e.- you're not typically discriminated against), you can be made to feel guilty.

It's a crock.

White privilege is an interesting concept. Basically that you should feel guilty if your aren't discriminated against (and I would successfully argue against that point). Isn't that the same as arguing that discrimination should be the "normal" state? Perhaps that is how they see the world.

The way things should work is that we should be shaming those who discriminate, aiming to rid the world of discrimination. I know that is an achievable goal, but it is the right goal. Punishing someone for not experiencing the proper level of discrimination borders on the insane. Of course it has been argued that liberalism is a mental disorder.

BTW, my niece this summer didn't get a job that she was trying for. The reason? No Indian blood. Yeah, the Indian tribes can blatantly do that, and nobody bats an eye.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/13/us/politics/bern ie-sanders-reaction.html?_r=0

A perfectly natural reaction to a completely normal action.

I'm guessing that as a Bernie fan, you have beliefs far different than mine, but like me couldn't help but notice the Appointed One is a felon, congenital liar, and the kind of monster that will cheerfully destroy the lives of anyone who gets in her way.... or just is expedient to get more power, more money.

I also see Bernie's desire to stay relevant now that Hillary has stolen the nomination from him.

( No I don't have proof. Anyone who does is either a Clintonista, or intimidated into silence, or dead... Heck, it's even remotely possible that with Wall Street and the Media backing her, she won fair & square. But I wouldn't put a penny on that bet. )

Otherwise, Bernie will fade into the obscurity that awaits failed Presidential bidders. Not only does no one remember who ran against Kennedy ( for example ), if you thought about him at all, you felt a touch of pity, and a feeling that the failed candidate was now doomed to morning talks shows and nothing important, ever again.

Even the ones that immediately jumped on the bandwagon, are mostly forgotten.

So I can only hope, ; ) that the Bernie fans will fail to vote Hillary in November. I can dream they will find Donald a rebel worth voting for instead of the Utterly Corrupt Poster Gal for White Privilege. I rather doubt it, but I can hope.

Fun to compare what he was saying two weeks ago with his tag lines today.

It's his religion.

From the original writing of Marx to the Alinsky codification of lie to power, through Bernie's cherry picking of Scandahoovia over the entire rest of the planet as an example of the joys of socialism, you can't spell leftist without lies.

Yet Bernie seems such a nice guy compared to the moral cripples that casually sent a "film maker" to prison for nearly a year and into exile for life. Straight from prison to Eraser.

Of course few of Bernie's idols started by ordering the murder of millions. That only comes after they take power.

Question. Given the example before you of Vietnam, where a D Congress voted to cut off an ally resulting in tens of millions murdered or drowned & a refugee crisis of biblical proportions. .....

The conscious decision to abandon Iraq & Afghanistan, with the refugee disaster in Europe & Here, the mass casualties by ISIS & Syria etc al., & the wave of terror.

Is this any different in result than Mao's ordered executions and mass purges?

you can't spell leftist without lies.

if you go in order, it would spell leis, which is how a German would phonetically spell "lies".

Hey, why are you thinking of Nazi Germany when I said that? Hashtag "hitler had it right" socialism!

For those who play chess, the game is usually over when the majority of pieces of the powerful armies are still on the board. The game may continue for many moves but the game is over. With great sadness in my heart, America is over. The corruption of the government has reached a tipping point and we are no better than the defunct Soviet Union. America, the country that I loved, is destined for the trash heap with the promise of "free stuff" at the cost of a corrupt, ever expanding central government. An electorate void of virtue, demands it. America is over.

There is a difference. Do not despair.

The Russian peasants were promised the overthrow of the yoke of the Czars. That happened but the Republic lasted weeks before the Reds killed it and created an aristocracy based on lies and hate.... and ruled by terror far worse than the Czars.

But the Russian people had no tradition of self rule, The Republic. To this day many call for the Strong Man to lead them out of the chaos of the fall of the Empire.

American people still have a tradition of self rule, though I admit it is severely eroded. The schools have tried to re-write history and no longer teach most of it.

Common Core is the end product of this process.

The fastest road to oblivion is direct democracy. It is increasingly clear that this is what is happening in America. Democracy never works and that is why our Founding Fathers gave us a Democratic Republic. Only virtue will allow a Republic to work. Without a Republic, we will revert to Empire or a dictatorship and follow Rome to ruin.

Repeal of the 18 year old vote must be enacted. Exception would be those serving in the military in good standing.

Only those who pay federal income taxes should be eligible to vote.

Welfare recipients can stay home, and hope that we have their best interests at heart... just like they do when they stand there with their hands out.

When it gets down to a guy you really don't like and a guy ( gal ) who is a proven evil monster, you go for the less horrible choice.

I will bet you breakfast that if you look back 100 or 50 or 150 years you will find editorials complaining about "the lesser of 2 evils" and "the country is going to hell in a hand basket", just like today.

The next few years are truly critical to the future of freedom. That's been said before, and often it was correct.

We remember the 1940's and the continuation of the Great War . A time of pretty fair clarity of choice. Fascism vs. the Republic.

The 1950's pitted the growing and implacable Religious fanatics of the Marxist faiths against the rest of the planet. More mass murder than any time in history, and the Struggle continues.

So although we still live in the shadow of nuclear destruction, and the legacy of the Soviet & Maoist dictatorships... BOTH of those Evil Empires have changed dramatically. Russia from the collapse of the fake economic system & central control, China from the infusion of Trillion$ of western dollars and embracing at least the illusion of Capitalism.

Yet both are still very real threats to civilization.

But the real historical echoes I see are the 1930's. The Rise of Socialism, the deliberate concealment of the price the people pay for that is as real today as it was 80 odd years ago. The NY Times writers and editors refused to admit the horrors of Soviet conquest and rule.... and still do.

Germany and it's National Socialists... wrongly called Right Wing by generations of leftists. Italy and Fascism. Russia & China with Communism. Japan with the Military Elite taking power from the Civilian govt.

The Great Depression was brought about in part by bad trade policy then dragged out for decades by Socialist attempts at central control.

I see those times as most like our own. Stuff got worse, some people used the bad times to take power from the Old Order, ( not always a bad thing... but never a great thing ) and keep it for themselves. It didn't work like they thought and a lot of people suffered.

Footnotes.

Japan ... for the folk that went to public school the last 40 years... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kwantung_Army
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/February_26_Incident

For those same folk, did you know we are a Republic, not a Democracy? Democracy was founded, then disproved as a system by the Greeks after the Peloponnesian War had demagogues con the people into war.

I personally used to feel this way but now feel it is anti-American to vote when holding your nose.

Vote for someone else (even a write in) and truly have your voice heard.

I think what will happen is those on the right that can't bring themselves to voter for Trump will vote Libertarian. I think those on the left that can't bring them selves to support Hillary will vote Green.

Be prepared for the next President to win without winning a majority of the votes. The Libertarian and Green parties will siphon off votes and both Hillary and Trump will end up in the low to mid 40% range ... Just my prediction.
