Is everyone here and their loved ones in or around the flooding OK?

I know Mark's folks are in the more western part of the state, and their house is on a hill, but A little reassurance would go a long way. I don't know how widespread the flooding is, but it still leaves me wondering.

Any and all information would be welcome.

A guy I work with spent all last week in WV working at a summer camp with his dad. The camp is fairly close to the Greenbriar area where some of the worst flooding occurred. He said their camp got a crazy amount of rain and flooding nearby but they were OK there.

The way he described it is most of the rain came down in one valley, so the worst flooding occurred in a relatively narrow area. The area where the camp is located is "one valley over" and had no problems.

Is that camp named Camp Greenbrier? I was a camper and counselor there for years (early 80s into the 90s). I sent a note to Will (the director) to see how things were but haven't heard back. Town is called Alderson and what I'm finding is they peaked at 22' above flood stage...not good.

Hey John, All is well in my folks neck of the woods.
They got a good bit of rain and had a lot of flooding but everyone is okay.

The people in Greenbrier county are in my thoughts.

That's where my camp is.

Might have to take the truck (and possibly the Kubota on a trailer) on a road trip this weekend, to see if they need any help digging out.

I think this was supposed to be opening weekend for the season.

Is that camp named Camp Greenbrier?

Joe- No, he said this camp is like a Catholic retreat near a town named Huttonville.

Ok thanks. Still hoping to hear from will that alls ok. They tear down to bare bones for winter - tents and floors packed, river slide and dock removed, everything stored in the gym and mess hall. Only a handful of "buildings", most everything is either outdoors or living quarters that are 4-man surplus tents on raised floors. But with this being opening week...I'm scared they were set up and ready to start.

Right in the middle of it, fortunately myself and my family all live on hills and were not affected. However clendennin got wiped out. Spent Sunday helping my brother, the football coach at Hoover high school, clean on the field house. They lost everything, all the uniforms and equipment. There was about 4 foot of water in there. The school itself had about 7 feet of water in it. Will be going back Saturday to help some more. I really feel for those that lost everything, and the worst, those who lost their lives.
