Jaimec:

An email went out at work last week that made me laugh. It was basically to remind people that using a cell phone while driving is dangerous (some executive was involved in a crash while answering a work related call).

It was funny because it started out: "While we appreciate your dedication to take phone calls at all hours of the day, answering your cell phone while navigating rush hour traffic, is not only dangerous it is against the law. Please wait until you arrive at your destination before using your phone. Unless it is the CEO, then pull over before answering." WTF?

Oh and I am marking my calendar to remind me next year...

Can we get some BW sponsored posters?

Normally get about 10 riders, poor turnout this year, I will blame it on 110 degree weather in the Mojave desert.

In Needles, CA it was 100º at 8:00 AM on Monday. It was supposed to hit 124º that afternoon. I don't know just how hot it was as I rode toward Barstow, but I will say that it was really flippin' hot!

In 2011 I remember pulling into Wall, SD and seeing 110 on the bank thermometer. By then I had figured out my "cooling trick." I brought along a 100% cotton sweatshirt, and every time I stopped I'd head to the men's room and SOAK the shirt in the sink. Squeeze out all the extra water, put it on, then put my Aerostich Darien Jacket over that.

The jacket kept it from drying out too quickly and for an hour or an hour and a half it felt like air conditioning. Probably wouldn't work for "Ride to Work" day though. Who wants to sit at their air conditioned desk in wet clothes?

I just mentioned that to Crusty on his thread. That's how I rode from Needles to Barstow. What a huge difference. I also used this on the way to Vegas from LA. The bad part was once I was in Vegas there was no more wind up my sleeves and it got hot in the jacket real fast!!

I generally walk about a hundred feet to work But I do pass within twenty feet of my Uly. I did ride FOR work the other day though, had to deliver a truck.
