Myself and a fellow DR rider are heading down to Two Wheels of Suches for the Memorial day weekend. He has never been and that was reason enough for me. We will be dropping the hammer Friday morning to get there at a descent time. (sorry Vern! I don't think I will have time to stop by) Just thought I would pass the word in case anyone else was looking for something to do. |

I would love to join you guys but not in the cards. However, the day after Memorial Day will be my last day at work after 38 years of making parts and fixing stuff! After that, sporadic rides will be the norm! Have fun as I know you will! |

On Memorial Day weekend, I'm going to be in Springfield, Illinois for the Springfield Mile. I'll be in West Virginia for the Rally in August, however. There's no way I would miss it now that I've been there. If you haven't been, you're really missing something. |

Springfield Mile... That would be fun too! But I have snagged the last cabin for the weekend at TWO so I will be headed south (to warmer weather I hope) |

It's been warm down here recently. When was the last time you were here? |

Its been a few years. It was still jut "TWO" the last time I was down. I'm looking forward to seeing all the improvements, tasting the food, sitting on the porch, sitting around a campfire and riding the roads! |

Bigtime improvements... I know a lot of folk were enamored with the previous owners, but the new owners have knocked it out of the park and stepped up the game. I was there once before it closed down, but now that it's reopened, it's a whole different animal. |

Mark, I plan on being there. I just checked and my 40th High School Reunion is the week before. I was afraid it was going to conflict but all's well! |

Mark you are in for a treat, I love it a boatload more than Old TWO. Food is great, the people working there are great, the bathhouse is nice, and now for 2016 the damn parking lot is paved! (and giant Harleys still get manage to get dumped) I only miss all the little decorations inside, but that will change in time. |

Dang Mark- now I'm jonesing for a TWoS fix! Prolly won't make it, but holler if you pass thru Maryville and maybe I can ride a while with ya! If you go my favorite route from home, it'll be TN 411 to TN 360 to Tellico Plains, then TN 68/GA 60 all the way there. LOTS of great D/S riding that way, and I've got 2 good friends who run a D/S outfitting shop close by in Friendsville TN called Dual Sport Touring- think American Sportbike type service and product, except for D/S riders! Stop in their shop if you can... And, in Tellico Plains you MUST eat at Tellico Grains Bakery- awesome sandwiches and wood fired pizza! Of course if your buddy has never been down the Dragon I'm guessing you'll head down that way, but I'd suggest doing the Tellico Plains route also if you wanna do the Cherohala Skyway. You have several good options! Be safe, and holler if you can- it'd be good to see ya! |

He has been to the Dragon a few times, just never to TWO. I am in the route planning stages now. I have a couple of job sites I would like to hit on my way south. Then maybe I will be able to write a few miles off along with maybe a couple of meals |

Yeah, forget the Dragon- unless you run south through it, then dogleg over through Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, which poots you out on the NC side of the Cherohala. Ride that to Tellico Plains TN, hit that lunch spot I mentioned (or Tellico Beach Drive-In), then shoot down TN68/GA60 to get there. If you stop by and see Megan/Francois at Dual Sport Touring, Friendsville TN, they'll tell ya how to get there on the dirt! Seriously, they know how to cross the lower 48 with a bare minimum of tarmac, good peeps with good stuff to sell ya. Again, holler at me and Vern for route details, if we can halp. |

Put about 150 miles on the DR yesterday riding to and from a MSF class I was teaching in Nelsonville, Ohio. Bike is in order and ready to head south! My Garmin GPS keeps shutting off so I will have to use the Tom Tom. I am used to the Garmin and the TT just isn't as easy for me to use. BUT! I am looking forward to a nice ride away from work. |

Mark, what garmin? One of my quest2 units was doing that. Turns out the mounting screws were too tight and it was warping the cradle just enough for the power contacts to lose contact... |

If it is the quest, internal replacement batteries are cheap and pretty easy to install. And external antenna's are also cheap and make the reception much much better even when the internal antenna hasn't failed yet. |

Its a Garmin 260 or 270... whatever it takes.. I bought it for my car years ago and then got the bright idea to mount it to the bike. It has a bunch of locations saved in it. Vern's place, TWO, Buell HQ, just about all the places I have visited in the last decade or so. Now I need to figure out why the Tom Tom base has now power... |

Dave, do you still need a digital camera? Do you mind if its not that portable? |

Send me something I can plug into the GPS and I will try to swing by. Will do! The ride from there to the property is pretty amazing. Going over Fort Mountain is a great ride, not too technical, but some l o n g s w e e p i n g turns are always fun. There are also trails and fire roads all the way also... Bill, I have missed my camera so much. Portability isn't really an issue. What are you asking? |
