Not sure how the fires in Fort McMurray, Alberta are being reported outside of Canada, but it's a pretty big deal. The entire city of 80,000 people has been evacuated, and many if not most won't have a home to go back to.
This is what it was like for some people during the evacuation. I can't imagine driving through this with a couple of kids in the car.
I'm in South East Texas and the coverage I've seen of the fire has been brief. Still, the reports I've seen leave no doubt that this is a fire of major proportions. Evacuating the entire town and 1000's of acres being burnt. You guys have a major fire going on.
They also have a pine beetle plague which contributes to fires ( it's at Mt. Rushmore too ) ironically partly caused by fire control measures. No consolation for people driving away from their burning life that we learn we shouldn't have put out all the fires that might have taken their homes before.
Rear cam shows dude on motorcycle behind the truck... no helmet.... cringing and trying to protect his face when the heat hits him... he finally took off... Can't say folks up there aren't polite. He waited longer than I would have. I almost took a job there a couple years ago.
