I thought this was still a concept bike. Thanks for the vid. I still wish the Mission RS team could put together something they could actually produce and sell. Of course, I REALLY wish Erik and Elves would produce the new standard for American electric superbikes. At a (relatively) affordable price. |

Seems Jay Leno's Garage did a segment, watching it now on the Lightning website. At 9:12 is a shot of the dash, same as on my 1190RS. List is $38k, LSR of 215.96mph. 200hp, 186ft-lb Z <edit>had to correct LSR Here's the vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lz1aTLBKIoQ (Message edited by zac4mac on May 01, 2016) |

Going back to June 8, 2015: http://www.motorcycledaily.com/2015/06/greased-fri ghtening-lightning-motorcycles-scary-fast-ls-218-m d-riding-impression/ I LOVED this article. Would love to see, ride and survive this motorcycle. |

My new Zero is NOT in that power class, but it is still an unbelievable amount of fun. The best way to describe it is, it is like my 2000 M2 Cyclone, only without the noise and vibration. Same instantaneous direction changes, same comfortable, real-world seating position, and MOUNTAINS of torque. The SR even more so, but I didn't see any need to spend the extra $$ on that model. The S is more than enough. Now if only Zero had a wind-tunnel. The biggest effect on range at highway speed is wind resistance, and currently the Zeros are about as aerodynamic as a cinder block (especially with my wide body sitting on it). I guess that's why most of these new electric bikes are based on sportbikes with their aerodynamic fairings. Makes you wonder what kind of highway range that Harley Livewire will end up having in its current form. |

Jaimec- if you let the Lightning vid pull you to the next one, they review the Zero models... IIRC at one point they mention that with a fairing, the Zero's can see another 10-15% more range. WANT!!! E-bikes are REALLY becoming sexy to me... |

Whatever happened to Moto-Czysz? His ICE bike designs fascinated me, and he had developed an E-bike that was awesome, before he came down with some serious illness... http://motoczysz.com/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MotoCzysz_E1pc |

I'm getting the "Commuter Shield" for mine; should be in by the end of the week. From what I hear, it'll make a bit of a positive difference in range (as well as making my highway commute a little less punishing). I wish there were a little "Flyscreen" available, like what the M2 Cyclone had. That really was enough to break up the wind hitting my torso. With my Lightning Long, all it took was the addition of the Laminar Lip. The only flyscreen on Zero's site apparently just fits the 2013 S model (I checked). |

Michael Czysz is a some-time visitor to BadWeb. Maybe with luck he'll see your post and respond (depending on his current health status, that is). |

Heck, Jaimec- didja ever see Vern's barndoor windscreen he built for his Uly?! He's got a kid in Tampa, and by Gawd he was determined to protect himself from those heinous lovebugs that turn up down there... Surely a good bit of study, some decent beer, and a little Lexan/fiberglass playin' would yield a good result for a one-off fairing! |

"I too really dug his approach with the longitudinal inline engine he was developing." After scanning that article, it hit me right away that his idea for the motor on the C1 may be similar to the latest patent-applied motor concept from Dan Gurney. Can't find it right away, but I read the MCN article when I was down at Glitchfest this year. Seems like the issue was late 2015, early 2016... right before I renewed my scrip! Now, a Gurney Alligator would be schweet, especially with the right motor! (Message edited by 86129squids on May 02, 2016) |

Well, I popped the Zero's cherry today. On the way home I took my exit ramp at a "brisk" rate of speed and dragged the right peg all the way through the turn. Now I need to take care of the left one... |

Dang! What was that like without any motor sounds?!? Put on a GoPro and record the audio man! |

Now if only Zero had a wind-tunnel. I've always wondered why electric motorcycle companies (zero, brammo) don't take aerodynamics into consideration. It's like building a sweet high performance motorcycle, then giving it a 1 liter gas tank, and attaching a parachute to the back. Plus, windscreens and tail sections are really useful. I love that I can tuck and get out of the wind when I ride my 1125r. |

I imagine the shape of the batteries has alot to do with it. I'm waiting for Tesla to use their battery technology on a motorcycle. There really isnt any dimensions limits with the way they use batteries. |

From what I've read, the technology Zero is using for their batteries is actually far more "energy dense" than Tesla's... |

Zero and Brammo both re-do their body work for the TTXGP or whatever it's called. Michael Czysz made some pretty aero-friendly bikes (they could have used bigger tail sections though). I find it hard to believe that the batteries keep them from putting a fairing on the front or a tail section on the back. |
