Prince has tended to be under rated in areas other than MN and LA LA LAND or maybe ATLGA. Love Petty, but that would be a tough call to call who opens for who. 86129, have you seen James Brown perform?

Nope, missed him the one time he came to Knoxville many years ago. Someday I need to try and collect all my ticket stubs from shows I've seen, maybe frame them...

86129, we had lunch with our son the other day and were talking about all the shows we have seen over the years. Seems there is always a "behind the scenes" story to be told, so my thoughts are scanning tix and blogging the story behind the scenes to make sure that info is passed along.

Man, as many shows that you have seen at the shed, you prolly have plenty of stories to share.

Hey Twst- there are several good articles on Prince in the Nashville Scene- I got a kick out of this one. Do a keyword search at their site for the rest!

And oh yeah, the Shed shows and aftershows were and are pretty dang awesome! They have a routine of doing a full recording with top shelf production, then once the artists are done, they all get to retire back inside the Shed for refreshments and food, and then to watch the full performance all over again on several bigscreen TV's. Always a good time!

THAT, is cool. My sound and lights friends may not feel that way, but I appreciate it. Thanks for posting.

If we ever make it back to the southeast, and we'd love to, because of the people and the roads, it would be great to see a show at the Shed. I understand Miss Elizabeth Cook, formerly of Wildwood, FL, loves that venue. And just like your opinion on live music, as well as Mr. Johnny Hickman's, we value hers.

@ Twiaty: IIRC she JUST played the Shed for Memorial Day Weekend. Leon Russell and Ray Wylie Hubbard are coming soon, also James McMurtry. Seen SO many great shows there, but as I'm almost always working now on Saturday nites, I'm missing them- I'll ask off for certain "not to miss" shows though.

Hate to hear of what got Prince BTW...

Yep, hate that it was pain pills that did him in. Really boiled down to jackass footwear while jumping from speakers onstage, then hip problems. Opiate addiction is no joke.

Having been in the Mpls area for a few days, and visited some of my old haunts-record stores-there is a huge gap here left by his death. People are still mourning. Some record stores have set ups that look like shrines. I've been wearing my "symbol" t shirt out and about and have been approached by people who struck up conversations about how awesome he was and how much he is missed.

This year has sucked for all music lovers. I hope everyone makes it a priority to see the performers they love while they can because you just never know...
