I called my local Ford dealership today to order a new thermostat housing. They said the Ford part has been discontinued. There seems to be one available in the aftermarket as "genuine" brand. Info is sketchy on it. Their part number is not the same as Ford's part number. More confusingly, there are two different "genuine" parts that claim same use, but different part numbers. Boooooo Hissssss!!!!!! |

+1 on rock auto. There might be an aftermarket aluminum replacement for the plastic OEM one. That was the case for my Jag. Much better part. Jaguar spent a lot of time engineering weight savings, but they didn't stress test the resulting parts very well IMHO. |

Rock Auto doesn't have a thermostat housing for a 99 ranger 2.5, just the gaskets. |

Rock Auto has long been my go to for non-urgent parts. I saved quite a lot on the complete front suspension rebuild last year. Hootowl is right, no housing at Rock Auto. |

Were they still Mazda-based in that year? Ford sold Mazda off so perhaps that's why they are stiffing you? |

There is a whole Lotta stuff that's discontinued now. I was looking for rubber grommets that pcv and air/oil separater mount into and both those are discontinued. I'll just check oreilly some day. When I first looked at this truck, I went and asked a fellow in freeport about that motor. He had been doing automotive machine work for years and I valued his opinion. He said there was a mazda motor with I'm thinking an aluminum head and then the Ford Motor with cast iron head. His opinion was if truck I was looking at if aluminum headed, run far and run fast. Cast iron head, grab it if a good price. He claimed those were good, solid motors. I only give 6350.00 for truck in august of 2007. |

Mine has 187,000 miles on it, and it does not use a quart of oil between changes. I really like the truck. All it has had is maintenance, and normal wear items. |

Fast1075, has your truck actually coded from being to 'cold'?when you slow down in town, does it seem to cool off? Temp gauge moving around reflecting subtle changes? Takes three cycles of gauge when first starting as warmup to temp? For group question, when does auto ecms code for being to cold? I run 182 or so on freeway@70+ with a 195° thermostat. Never coded yet. |

P0128 should set below 180 after a certain amount of drive cycles. |
