2 questions actually. 1. Since you seem offended when I use Christianity as an example of a culture that doesn't execute people in fun and amusing ways on tv for violating a rule written by ( revealed to ) an OCD dark ages warlord, I need a different example. As in..."Christians don't usually burn witches anymore but gays can expect public torture execution in Islamist societies" and 2. I am ignorant of the actual part of the teachings of New Testament that tell us we can ignore Old Testament law. I'm not interested in a Hadith, an interpretation by later scholars, but the original. Hoping someone knows that teaching and can point me to it. I'm not arguing AGAINST that idea, there are some really obsolete bronze age laws in the book. I don't really expect to go to Hel for not treating my Donkey properly, although I may have abused a Kawasaki and could deserve it.  | ||

Patrick, Are you familiar with the different types of Old Testament law and their applicability? There are three. 1. Israeli civil law including penalties for violations reported to and affirmed by the authorities, applicable only to Israelis and those living under their authority. 2. Israeli religious ceremonial law including penalties for violations reported to and affirmed by the authorities, applicable only to Israeli religious practices. This includes the dietary laws like no shrimp for you. 3. God's moral law. Between us and God with some overlap in civil law, but God's moral law applies to all. When, how, why did the Christian view of the law change from the above? When our relationship with God changed. It not unlike how the relationship between human parents and their children changes as the children mature.
