OK so Multiple Cycle Insurance & Registration Anyone have recommendations, tactics, etc for motorcycle insurance for multiple cycles? I understand full coverage covers more than just the riding risk. I typically only carry liability. If I suspend coverage for say the winter because I'm not riding or what ever, I supposed to notify the state/turn in my plates. IL randomly sends out invitations to provide proof of active insurance coverage for each registered cycle. Non-compliance (non-receipt) has bad consequences and fines apparently. Plus the great state of IL and local village pops me for about $130 a year per cycle in "registration" (aka tax) DAve |

My insurance company in New York used to have a winter provision for the occasional ride on sunny days, full insurance for 8 months then limited for 4, but now I think it's just year round coverage. Laws change. It's just easier to not worry about it for me, and know that on those 50 deg days I can ride. Like today. If I could use a hover pack to get the bike over the swamp between the shed and the road. I can't seem to find my hover pack. I probably left it on the Galactica. Silly me. I technically could ride today legally. Practically? I really need to build that garage. |

Patrick, Put the bike in the house. Dave, We have been blessed with a mild winter. I rode this morning. I'm only owning one bike at a time for now. I keep it insured year round. Find an insurance agent that represents more than one insurance company. Sit down with him/her and see what they come up with for all your insurance needs. May save enough to insure all the bikes. I think I'm down to $75 a year on the Buell. |
