The spacer was worn a bit, I can't say I've seen one of the new wheels to know what kind of real estate should be behind the bearing that hold the spacer. Brankin has a bunch of pictures and the wheel is sitting in my garage for now. I also hope the wheel isn't trashed. My uly is on blocks in the garage, waiting for return of her rear wheel. Maybe I should finally get the M2 back together...
Brankin had about 240 miles to burn tonight to get home, so he'll be good to go.

I guess Brankin can't be trusted on anyone's bike, that's the second one he knocked out of service in a week!
Squids, I'm still running the same superglued starter, it has been good thus far, even with another nasty rainstorm right before homecoming. It will be swapped at the next service interval, assuming it holds up till then. |

Heck- you've already been through the procedures, just hold onto the new one until you need it! Warranty/no warranty?

That confirms it . . . blow the pic up and you will see that my aging eyes are dead accurate.
We didn't have many accessories then . . . . but, with Kimmy acting as the model, we had a few and put together a little mini-catalog . . actually a one page flyer.
If I am not mistaken, Kimmy was, at the time, also doing some REAL modeling.
Brankin and I were never approached about being models.

Team EBR is #1. We hit East Troy House for lunch. I was fortunate to sit with with Erik, Mike, and 2 others from team EBR. (someone help with names.. Steve & John?)
The passion and commitment to the Buell Nation is evident. They go to extraordinary measures when a bike is down.
I didn't see this passed along so forgive me if it was.
Dealerships: I understood they are vetting dealerships carefully for 3 tiers. Someone can weigh in to help me here.
1. New bike dealers
2. Parts and service dealers
3. ...drawing a blank...
Anyhow, they want service to be impeccable. Bringing in dealership technicians to work with the factory guys 1 on 1 to learn from the experts 1st hand. How cool is that? Confidence inspiring? Remember the old days where service department would draw straws to see who would get the short one to work on a Buell?
Plus they picked up lunch for everyone!

Dave,
As I recall, (and I reserve the right to be wrong), Erik was talking about three tiers of dealerships.
1. Seriously committed dealers with committed floor space for X number bikes, demo bikes and merchandise (best dealer pricing from EBR)
2. smaller dealers with less floor space and less than X bikes in stock. Different pricing for for EBR product. (Slightly higher than tier 1.)
3. Factory authorized parts/service, ( no bike sales but discounted pricing on parts.
I actually like the idea. It allows dealers who are unsure if they can move the product to start small with a smaller commitment. As the brand popularity builds, incentivizes the dealer via their own sales volume up to make the next tier worth committing toward.
I intend to approach the management of a local shop in MN next week, because I think they would be an ideal tier 2 (for now)dealer. I had asked them a few weeks ago why they never considered an EBR dealership during the first iteration of EBR, and they had told me they didn't want to commit the inventory and floor space, and had doubts to the future of EBR. I would love to introduce them to the 1190 line as I think it has great potential As Mike from EBR told me last week, "just go ride the motorcycle" |

Here's my rear bearing, the first bearing casualty of the week. I think Brankin got a little too close and caught the bug from mine! Thankfully, mine got noticed while I was strapping it the trailer. How I never felt it before CeeCee saw it, I can't say!!

I had the good fortune after sitting down to have Froggy sit next to me and then Erik sit down across from us. Wow.
@Dave The fellow's name is Steve Smith. He is the Buell CEO. The other fellow, John seemed to be visiting. He had been with Buell/EBR in engineering and his area is hydraulics. He is now working with an Ag operation in the area in the same engineering hydraulics area.
@Steve Your understanding of the 3 tiers is basically what I heard.
It was nice to meet you fellows; all class people.
One thing Steve Smith mentioned, or I thought I picked up on, is that former employees are coming back and volunteering to help. EBR is doing amazing things with the few people they have; I think it is 12 now, yet they appreciate this commitment former employees share. But I also heard him say that if people desired to contribute talent (on a volunteer basis)EBR certainly would be open. As my area is marketing, I asked him a couple of questions along those lines.
The kind of efforts that Dave and Hugh (and others) are contributing through the likes of the EBR Restart Page on Facebook--and Dennis putting shirts together--are just some of the kind of efforts that EBR needs. i.e. I stopped with the bike at a gas station in Horicon, WI today--55 miles from East Troy--and chatted with two nice young fellows with new bikes. They did not know that Buell or EBR existed.
One last thing; Froggy correct me if or where I am wrong on this story Erik told. Bill Melvin has an artificial right leg from the knee down as the result of an accident where a car hit him while riding his motorcycle (I think he was saying that Bill was riding a Vincent Black Shadow when it happened). Bill continues to ride and his love for cycles has been a key part of EBR's rebirth. Anyway, Bill was riding his motorcycle one day and as he pulls away from a stop sign his artificial leg detaches and stays right there at the stop. So he pulls over and stops at the side of the road needing help; imagine, you cannot put the kickstand down. So he points to a fellow in a pickup truck to help him retrieve his artificial leg. After some effort the guy finally realizes what has happened and helps Bill out. The way Erik was telling the story it was funny, with the point being made that Bill has not let things like this stop him, he takes them in stride. Erik says you would not know he has lost the lower part of his leg; Bill does not dwell on it but on what he can do. That is the leadership being given to EBR: Move forward. |

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the 'Did that just happen' moment from Friday's lunch on the square in East Troy.
After we had ordered our food and were discussing all things EBR, a fellow walked by and asked if we were Buell/EBR riders. After confirming we were, he mentioned that he had the Buell blimp and was trying to sell it as he was moving and wouldn't have the space for it after the move. I guess most in attendance hadn't followed the trials and tribulations of the attempted sale of the Buell blimp, but I have and inside I was laughing like crazy!
Sorry I haven't messed around with my pictures yet to post any yet. Not sure if they'll still be relevant when I get around to them. We'll see how soon I can get around to it...

The rushed and abridged version, because I wanted to do something more enjoyable than what I should be doing to get caught up from returning from vacation...
I took in the Indy 500 on my way up to Homecoming. I had a day to myself to kick around Indy, so I decided to visit a very personable dealer just South of Indy.
