Makes me feel better thinking of all those front pipes on Sportsters I have clearanced over the years. I kind of wonder if they are not loosing as much as they think because the pipe may be bulging out the sides.

Ordee I like your bike that was my favorite color skeeme of the XBs.

Never would have expected that. Funny how header design is still considered so important.

People have found the same thing with two stroke dirt bikes (which have pretty complicated expansion chambers built into the header). Dents added power as often as they robbed it, and in general, there wasn't much difference.

I was surprised too.

So- what If I'm a coolio-Brah, driving around in a "tuner" Jap car with a wing and a coffee-can tailpipe and THAT gets dented- will I get more powahhh? Or girlz?

I like how HP increased after two dents, this could be a watershed moment in header design.

The only two things that concerned me here were, 1) They were wailing on those headers with them were bolted to the heads as their only support, and 2) Hitting hammer on hammer with no eye protection.

Keep in mind that the HP gain they saw would be pretty typical of back to back dyno runs without any changes.

Hitting hammer to hammer is nothing to play with, although they weren't hitting all that hard. I did know someone who was blinded in one eye that way. I've also seen fragments pretty deep into a co-workers arm.

I have co-workers that used to smack hammers at the foundry. One of them still has a piece inside him.

I thought about the header bolts in the head on my XB as soon as they hit the first one.

Yes, the 08 XB12Scg is sweet in the translucent red. (HotWheels)

I don't plan on dinging my pipes for power.
