https://pjmedia.com/lifestyle/2016/01/14/harry-pot ters-professor-snape-actor-alan-rickman-dies/ Mr. Rickman played one of the great villains of all time in cinema, Hans Gruber, in "Die Hard". His brilliant portrayal of a typecast actor from a cancelled sci-fi tv show in "Galaxy Quest" also deserves mention. And as the article above says, as Snape, the dark, but quietly heroic, and secretly tragic teacher in the Harry Potter films, may have been the most memorable, and misunderstood characters in the series. He did great work. He will be missed. |

I agree. The Harry Potter films were a magnitude greater by the virtues of his acting in them... and Galaxy Quest was a rare treat. IIRC he had a good turn in "Bottle Shock", the story of Napa Valley and US wines gaining worldwide respect in the late '70's. NPR did a great interview with him some time ago- before he did "Die Hard", he was pretty much a nobody, and... "Yippee-Kay-Yay, MF'er." Rest in Peace Sir. |

I thought Alan Rickman was good in "Quigley Down Under", too! |

This time, John Wayne and Grace Kelly have walked into the sunset. Happy trails, Hans. |
