That reminds me, whatever happened to the new Nortons? Are they still a thing? I was really hoping they'd make it. |

I like those old BritBikes - I haven't seen a running Velo in decades. I saw some in a basement collection two days ago... For the new Nortons, I did some reading up on them and some have problems, some don't but very few have many miles on them. http://www.nortonownersclub.org/noc-chat/technical 6-961-forum/887201177 |

I'm going to be facing this problem very soon... The X1W is for sale and I'll be Buell-less after eleven very happy years Once I arrive in the U.S. it will be a little while before I get another bike, but I'm thinking it's time for something different, maybe even another inline 4, it's been a while since I owned one. I'll need an all rounder, something that can commute, scratch and also cover distance (DC to Suches?)... An adventure bike with bags makes sense, but I always find them such BIG and tall bikes... I like naked bikes, so I'm thinking: Speed Triple (any model) Triumph Sprint RS XJR1300 Aprilia Tuono Aprilia Dorsoduro Ducati Monster 900 or 1000? Not really a distance bike though; BMW R1100S or K1200R? I'm open to suggestions It's going to be fun trying something different I can verify both of Buellish's bike are extremely nice, and the Guzzi is one very sweet ride |

Thanks for that Graham. If I can put in my two cents worth, the R1100S is a really great mile burner.I had one with Ohlins suspension front and rear,a full exhaust, heated grips and hard bags.I should have kept it. The Yamaha FZ09 and for more of a touring mount, the FJ09 are said to be a lot of fun with a nice upright riding position. |

I'm waiting to see what Victory is going to do with its version of the Indian Scout motor. Victory is trying to position itself to the 'sportier,' or 'performace' side of the American-made V-twin spectrum, while leaving Indian to the 'traditional/heritage' side of things. |

I rode an FZ09/MT09 and was impressed, it really moved! I found the riding position a bit too upright, but I'm pretty sure they're standard tubular 'bars that could be changed? An R1100S would be pretty nice, and I'm guessing not too expensive these days? |

The only things that turn me on right now are Guzzi V7 racers. I don't care that they have lawnmower engines! They look so pretty. |

DANG that BoxerCup bike is sexy! ST1100's are nice, but a properly farkled and set up VFR, most any year, would be better. I'm pretty dang happy with my '02 Sprint ST... that 955 triple motor makes ALL the difference. |

I'm riding this for the time being, a pristine 06 R1 I picked up for 4k with 19k on the clock. There was nothing wrong with the bike and only needed minor maintenance and new tires. The bike was never laid down or abused, the only mods on it were a PCV and a slip-on. Hopefully EBR comes back so I can continue to ride my RX, for now it will just be my man cave center piece. A full Ti graves exhaust and various other items are waiting for my return home

This would be me all day if I did not ride Buell/EBR motorcycles. They are truly beautiful machines.

I'm with ya Mack, just don't have Trump's $$$ to get one. For my pesos I'm very happy with the Triumph, and many of their other models have nice aesthetics. |

+1... There are any number of nice Beemers out there on the used market at any given time... the more I get to look at and appreciate an R1100S, the sexier it gets. Buellish posted up an awesome BoxerCup bike in the Atlanta area recently for Graham's thread- sliiiick! The K75's have become collectible, and there are a few flying bricks I like, but I'd generally have to stick with the twins. An ex-po-po R1100RT would be a great ride, especially if you could maintain the "mimicry" part. |

There's a few Beemers I quite like. The wife likes the older flying bricks:

Brad, that Boxer Cup wasn't in Atlanta,it was in Virgina. With Graham moving to DC,I thought it would be right in his back yard. |

That Norton is identical to the one I bought new in 1974. I rode nothing but Nortons until I bought my Cyclone in 2007. Something about that little button that starts the engine. I have always thought the Cyclone was what a Norton would be if they had stayed in production, just not as pretty. I have some Norton Commando parts I'd like to sell if anybody is interested. |

I have a two-fiddy motor and as soon as I find a chassis, I'm building one of these:
Right now I'm riding this (still campaigning the 1125 until parts become a real problem):

Current Uly - not going anywhere as long as I can keep it going. Have 38,000 miles, have had no problems with it at all.
Have had the BMW since 1997 (180,000 mi) also not going anywhere.
Considering making an offer on this one, but lack of a seat put me off. I don't see any of the new bikes that really interest me - Maybe a Triumph Tiger 800, I don't know, had a Vstrom 1000 gave that up as being too "Vanilla". Had a KLR - too under powered. |

Dang! If I had the cabbage to bid on a HRD/Vincent, I'd surely be able to make a seat happen... Digging the old Airhead! What year? Looks like it has about all the proper farkles, better set-up than mine... aint that a Hannigan fairing? I miraculously picked up some pristine Krauser hardbags perfect for mine, AND a Wixom fairing. Sometime in the New Year I'll have Vern paint and mount that thing. |

That was a little "tounge in cheek" about the Vincent. That is the Rollie Free bike, last sold for 1 mil. The previous rider had his own style.
The fairing is a 1970 Avon, bike is a 1980 R100, very comfortable ride, wish it had suspension like the Uly. |

That Boxer Cup Replika is really tasty, but a little out of my price range I think. Rick_a, I like your taste in Beemers! Is the white one an RnineT? Moving to DC, sounds like traffic, and parking even more so, are a headache, so I'm thinking a motorcycle is going to be a good way to get around... The initial budget is going to be $4k max, cheaper would be better... I wonder what I can find that's good to commute and fun in the mountains? |
